@Crypto_McKenna it's a game of cat and mouse. current models can also find exploits successfully. their framing has only one goal of regulatory capture. the message is basically "ai is so dangerous, and we are the only responsible stewards, regulate us harder"

it all makes sense now. dario was still at openai in 2019. he left next year and took his marketing playbook with him. hasn't changed a thing since.

@RyanFieldABC You're delusional if you think he was giving those away out of the goodness of his heart. The weather, time, and seats sucked so bad you couldn't pay people to come!

Just Microsoft things... Recently they terminated the VeraCrypt developer's Microsoft account. VeraCrypt is a free and open-source disk encryption software that performs on-the-fly encryption (OTFE) to create virtual encrypted disks, encrypt partitions, or secure entire storage devices.

It’s fun to read the NYer Sam Altman exposé compared to, like, Matt Taibbi on the Twitter Files or Nicholas Wade on Covid gain of function research and lab leak “hypothesis,” because it’s basically Perez Hilton/Just Jared-era sinister homosexual gossip blogging dressed up for an “enlightened” “sophisticated” audience that pretends to be above that sort of thing. On the so-called Ilya memos and Dario notes that form the backbone of the investigation, the authors are forced to concede that, “Neither collection of documents contains a smoking gun. Rather, they recount an accumulation of alleged deceptions and manipulations, each of which might, in isolation, be greeted with a shrug.” Lol. They also admit to “spending months” looking into allegations that Altman rapes minors and hires prostitutes when all else fails but still coming up empty-handed. He’s grateful to them for clearing his name. Katie Miller quoting the anonymous Microsoft exec who says, “I think there’s a small but real chance he’s eventually remembered as a Bernie Madoff- or Sam Bankman-Fried level character.” Oh, and Aaron Swartz, who’s like the Charlie Kirk of tech, in that everyone has a hadith about him, once called Altman a “sociopath.” The irony of industry thot leaders and various fake insiders pretending we have a choice between a post-scarcity superabundance utopia and a dystopian annihilation scenario when the dystopia is already here and it’s not the AI gaining sentience but people being so insentient they think this is journalism even before AI has fully taken over their lives. Amazing work. I almost forgot Ronan Farrow was the guy behind MeToo.

So, basically, if Anthropic was not a US company, we’d be facing zero days with multiple unknown points of attack on virtually all of our systems to an adversary who developed this capacity before us.

As someone who has audited dozens of safety-critical systems, built static analysis tools, and used most formal verification and security tools, here are some red flags that should be a caution in taking these claims at face value: 1. There are no comparison benchmarks with 1/
