This is a no go Although the U.S. Constitution is a bit vague on life-terms for SCOTUS justices, it’s been historically interpreted as for life The only solution Dems can do is to expand the court as Congress has done many times in its past

🔵 Sen. Cory Booker on NBC: “The Supreme Court desperately needs reform. It is a corrupt court.” Booker pointed to term limits as outrage over the Callais decisions grows.

The incumbent Senator in this district was the only member to vote against a bill banning child marriage. Should I run against him as a write-in candidate and get placed on to the general election ballot?

Fun fact: if you are a write-in candidate and get at least 1% of the vote and finish as the runner-up in the top-two WA primary, you get to make the ballot. So, if anyone wants to run as a write-in candidate for Washington's 6th Senate District, you should try to do it!

i know this doesnt exactly matter anymore but its pretty easy to make a fairly clean 15-2 IL if youre fine with not every seat being fully safe and one being an uphill battle (2024 data) 1: R+1.4 4: D+3.3 5: D+3.7 6: D+7.6 13: D+7.8 all the rest above harris+10

@DiehardOsfan55 Achunky red rural northwest blob vs. sprawling blue south/metro? Straight cartoon gerrymandering — poor compactness, ignores population balance and real communities. Minnesota’s actual court-drawn map earned an “A” for fairness. This is meme-tier partisan fantas

Can’t believe this needs to be said on ET, but periodic reminder that it is your civic duty to VOTE. As long as you do, even if the election doesn’t go your way, at least you’ve voiced your dissent. If you don’t, you forfeit your right to complain or critique the results.

If Ds do end up trying again in VA, I feasibly think it could be a tougher lift, but they also might as well just try to repeal the redistricting commission ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m not mad VA SC overturned the map, it was extremely rushed and bent the law. I’m mad that we have to play by the rules while the GOP doesn’t. There’s no way the FL SC overturns the FL gerrymander despite the 2010 Amendment. It’s not a fair playing field and it never will be

@KnowingBetterYT You voted for this. Your local dems stood by and padded their pockets instead of fighting while our local republicanism won seats.

DeSantis has conceded that his gerrymander violates the Florida Constitution's Fair Districting Amendment. Now he is arguing that the Amendment itself should be struck down as unconstitutional. The issue? The Supreme Court just praised the Amendment in Rucho v. Common Cause.

@SethAbrams1 Trust is a big hurdle, of course. Part of why things fell apart for them in 2010 was that collapse in trust. As far as issues, being conservative on guns is an easy one. With the Court being how it is, nothing is happening on gun control anyway. More moderate on abortion, too.

Democrats desperately need a larger conservative wing of the party to be relevant in a broad swath of states. Being a purely progressive party is only going to get you so much of the map.
Gold Bar Bob@SenGoldBars

A topic that has to be discussed by Democrats is how they just simply don't win enough states. Like take 2024.... Democrats had a (mostly) baked in 19 states, Republicans had 24. Democrats control 18/50 state legislatures... Republicans control 28/50.

@ccccccccccccdfx There can’t be a counterexample. It’s an impossible exercise. That’s what makes the map legal in the eyes of the court.

It’s not really a question, SCOTUS said that partisan gerrymandering interests take priority over racial representation. The “test” for illegal racial bias will be if TN avoided drawing a black district in their quest for a 9-0 map. That obviously wasn’t possible so it’s legal
Dj@DjsokeSpeaking

ik a lot of people have said this already, but the new TN map will give an answer on if the VRA is completely dead or not Even in a reduced VRA, the Memphis CD should be protected Its compact & contained and you have to go out of your way to split Shelby three ways like this

I take back what I said, this isn’t a gambling credit card. It’s worse. It’s a debit card where Tuyo has SOLE DISCRETION over the purchases that are “pay maybe” aka free for the user. Zero odds. Zero stats. Slot machines are more predictable. This one’s going to result in a whole lot of overdraft fees for Tuyo because inevitably people will get addicted and spend more than they should “because this one might be free!” Def a way to build smart spending habits!
