@brigrey1005 They are asking as so many people are being scammed and social engineeringed to go to the bank and take out money to prevent their grandchild from going to jail or to move money into a fake “safe” account. It is about checking to see if you are not being scammed.

My mom just told me that she went to the bank to withdraw money, (under $10k), they asked her what she was using the money for. The teller said it is now protocol to ask.
