@terrakei07 It’s mostly because of how much california has political and financial control over its region! It is a politically left leaning state with a lot of shows and movies being made in it so its culture affects a lot of the US along with its laws due to the businesses inside as well

@leafumn i think on the internet especially its partially self inflicted because its a word that trends often. younger artist treat it as a real physical force pulling on em cause well, theyre young and believe its a thing at one point artists should have when that isnt true 1/2

@hetgenMannerism i think its a good idea when you are starting a new visual branch in your brain to use refrences till you become the thing. then go nuts and draw it without any and see your creativity and what inspires you out of the subject. By itself a banana is boring but it can also be peely

using refs mindlessly lowkey deteriorates your brain like i see people repeat the 5 pinterest poses all the time and the quality exceeds their non referenced art. training your brain to think on its own helps to put it rudely
