Watched “The Return” a modern enactment of the final, climactic book of the Odyssey. It was a pretty straight retelling (down to the touching scenes with Argos and his nursemaid, who alone recognize Odysseus). Fiennes has to be juiced to his eyeballs, and even then felt old for the role. Odysseus is supposed to be moderately weathered and over the hill, not borderline geriatric (in theory he should be in his 40s). Penelope is the same age, and their reunion comes off as a couple who had a romance in their 20s and then reunite when senior, which isn’t the recessional tone of the poem. The one memorable line comes when Penelope meets a still-disguised Odysseus and asks for news of her husband after 20 years of absence: Penelope: “Men can find the route to war, but not home.” “At some point, war becomes home,” replies the scar-covered soldier. Overall a surprisingly unruined version of one of the Great Books of the West. Surprised such films are still made.

He returns home with no spoils, the men of Ithaca are all dead, and he has to disguise himself to enter his own home.

Big win for both Luka and Cade. The NBA and NBPA got this one right. Both players have been dealing with significant injuries this season, and rigidly enforcing the 65-game rule would’ve felt incredibly harsh given how much they’ve already contributed when healthy. Especially for Luka: missing the threshold through no fault of his own would’ve been brutal. Glad they created a fair exemption process for genuine extraordinary circumstances.

It's a shame that the team wasnt allowed to relocate within the northeast. They took less $ to go to Houston.
