What a novel idea! No Israeli leader has ever tried to negotiate with the Palestinians! This must be the key to unlocking the whole region! Doing the same thing repeatedly & expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
Dilan Esper@dilanesper

There's actually only one thing Israel can do that will actually reduce terrorism directed at it, and it's the thing the Israeli right desperately doesn't want to do (because elements of its coalition want to steal the land)-- negotiate with the Palestinians.

This is forever controversial but IMO Spider-Man should have organic web-shooters. It's always seemed silly to me that his backstory is that a spider bit him and gave him Spider-Powers™ ... except for his most famous spider-power, which he made in a lab. For branding, you know.

@ChristianHeiens It was a boondoggle from inception. The “it will be cheaper than driving” analysis assumed gas prices of $20/gal.

California has spent 11 years and $14 billion dollars on a train project that has 0 miles of operational track. I'm sure that one day in the far future they'll finish this project, decades behind schedule and tens of billions of dollars over budget...but that's the entire point. That was always the point. This entire project demonstrates the sheer ineptitude of Blue State governance. Conservatives almost unanimously predicted this would happen back in 2008 when the state voted on this project. And their objections were waved away by the same crowd who now sit there and fumble over themselves trying to explain why it's going to take 30-40 years and +$120 billion to complete. That's so utterly outrageous that it almost baffles the mind seeing anyone still even attempting to muster a defense of it today.
Alan Fisher@alanthefisher

there are so many astroturfed conservatives against CAHSR because the second that there is a working train between 2 cities in the US that can hit 200mph it is fundamentally over for the argument of "that doesn't work here" The oil lobby will do everything possible to stop that

@redsteeze Not that “get beat up” is even a realistic fear. Men don’t care if women use the men’s room (which isn’t that uncommon, since men’s rooms almost always have a much shorter line). Extremely unlikely care about TIMs.

New York has such insane tennet laws that this is going to become a pseudo grab to destroy private property. You rent part of your home, suddenly the tennet starts complaining to the local renter's board (managed by a communist NGO) about the condition of the place. Then they come in, demand remodeling, you can't afford to do it, they sue you and manage the property themselves as an affordable housing complex.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

If you own a home with a basement, attic, or backyard, chances are you’ve thought about using it to earn a little extra income or as space for a loved one. We want to make it as easy (and affordable) as possible for you to do that. NYC recently legalized ADUs — but for too many New Yorkers, they’re still tied up in bureaucracy and expense. We're fixing that. Our new toolkit at nyc.gov/aduforyou includes preapproved building plans and a financing calculator so you can get right to building. If we want New York to remain a city for everyone, we have to make it easier for homeowners to stay here. ADU for You will do just that.

@ChrisJBakke Washing machines in kitchens are common around the world. I assume this is a studio and it doesn't have a dedicated in-unit laundry room. What really stands out to me as dumb is the curvature on the ceiling. What's going on there? You don't see that in apartment buildings.

You will live in the AI slop apartment. Your clothes washer will be under your kitchen sink. You have no dryer. There's wood paneling on the walls for some reason. You will smile at the candle that is burning 4 inches away from your 24 foot tall curtains. You pay $20,000/mo and can't access the stairs up to your shitty loft bedroom. There is no bathroom. You will be happy.

@ChrisJBakke Yes, obvious AI slop, but single unit washing machine/dryers are common in Europe, and it's not under the sink here. I'm more curious about whatever this thing is.

Men - do you have a "mental list" of things you need to do every day? Or do you tackle things as they pop up? (I'm asking because a friend and I were talking about this earlier and we both wondered how common it is for men, because it's VERY common for women)

I'm VERY into music and audio quality, and while there is a crazy difference between $30 headphones and $3000 headphones, you're well into the diminishing returns sector at that point. A pair of $30 headphones might be at 76% audio quality, and a pair of $3000 headphones could be at 98% audio quality, but a $600 pair of headphones can be at 97% audio quality, and that extra 1% is NOT worth $2400.

@Grummz There is such a crazy difference between normal and audiophile quality. But i don't think most people care. 99% of people have never hada $3000 pair of headphones on or heard a $50,000 home theater system to even know or care that their earbuds are only par.

This is a 1000-gram iron bar. In its raw form, it’s worth around $100. If it’s turned into horseshoes, its value rises to about $250. If it’s made into sewing needles, its value jumps to roughly $70,000. If it’s crafted into watch springs and gears, it can be worth around $6 million. And if it’s transformed into precision laser components, like those used in lithography, its value can reach $15 million. Your value is not defined only by what you are made of, but by how well you shape your potential into something extraordinary.
