Save the Date for an #NSF DESC Workshop on Sustainable Computing on Aug 20-21, 2024. This workshop will focus on the dimensions of #AI, water, and biodiversity dimensions, extending beyond just carbon footprints. #SustainableComputing

Had a great time discussing Resilience Research @CrispPurdue ! It's great to see @PurdueEngineers have been building an incredibly exciting research hub on Computer System Resilience. Great leadership of @bagchi_saurabh and team. Saurabh and @SomaliChaterji are kindest hosts.

Here’s the happy group. At the CRISP NSF Grand Challenges in Resilience Workshop. Happening at Purdue’s Recreational Sports Center. #CRISPWorkshop23 @LifeAtPurdue @PurdueEngineers @PurdueScience @PurdueECE @PurdueCS

ML+vision Twitter: I know nothing about "equivariant" NNs (i.e. NNs satisfying f(RX)=R'f(X) for rotations/rigid motions R and 3xN point clouds X). There's a giant cloud of papers that overlap in confusing ways, and the surveys seem to be piles of citations. What should I read?

I was talking about LC today with someone today. It wasn't about Long COVID. Any guesses?

@keenanisalive Also thinking of it from the perspective of path-based sampling in symbolic execution. Another example is Neuzz that uses gradient-guided approach rather than ramdom sampling arxiv.org/pdf/1807.05620…

@counterfac Yeah, I guess that’s what it’s called isn’t it. 😅 I haven’t seen a systematic treatment of fuzzing for geometric algorithms. E.g., uniformly random inputs often lead to perfectly well-behaved systems. Also have to think about quantifying “failure” (e.g., bad condition number).

@borjasotomayor Thanks, @borjasotomayor ! The Computer Science department is one of the best places on campus. It is growing, dynamic, and cutting edge in terms of research. And the faculty & students are not only incredibly talented, they are great people. Take a look & ask questions.

By the way, you will have some darn big shoes to fill: our current director, the legendary @rdbartlett, one of the best people I've had the privilege to work with, will soon be retiring after a long and distinguished career at UChicago. We'll miss you (and your laughter), Bob!
