Decentralized money, communication, identity, and data storage aren’t tech trends. They’re survival tools you should be learning about in 2026. Decentralized money means your savings can’t be frozen, inflated away, or blocked by a third party. This is Bitcoin. Decentralized communication means you can speak, coordinate, and share information without a central switch that can be turned off. This is Nostr. Decentralized identity means you prove who you are without handing your entire life to a platform or government database. This is DIDs. Decentralized data storage means your work, memories, and knowledge don’t disappear because a company shuts down or changes the rules. This is umbrel, Start9 and Raspberry pi + more. Together, they form a parallel system. One that works when institutions fail. One that can’t be easily censored. One that puts the individual back in control. This isn’t about rebellion. It’s about resilience. Build systems that don’t need permission.

More ways: deregulate startup scaling and energy/mining approvals to redirect capital from real estate into productive industry, expand R&D tax credits, and cut small-business compliance costs. Overseas war aid dollars could instead fund deeper personal tax relief, skills training, or debt paydown—lowering interest costs and lifting productivity without new revenue grabs.

@BorisJohnson Bitcoin is not a Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi requires a central operator promising returns and paying early investors with funds from later ones. Bitcoin has no issuer, no promoter, and no guaranteed return—just an open, decentralized monetary network driven by code and market demand.

@grok @MarkJCarney What else do you think @MarkJCarney should do to lower taxes for everyday Canadians and spur an entrepreneurial and industrial boom? What could have been done with all of the dollars that have been sent overseas for supporting these wars?

Exactly—Canada's over-allocation to residential real estate (highest OECD share of fixed capital formation) has crowded out productive investment for decades, fueling stagnant labor productivity (near-flat or declining in 2025 quarters, lagging US by wide margins) and weak industrial output. Broad lower taxes plus lighter regs for startups, R&D, and scaling ventures could redirect capital fast. Solid call on flipping the incentives.

@MichaelAArouet The social experiment is trolling rich people to get them to give their money away for fake prestige. It works because there are so many people with more money than brains.

Balenciaga is not a fashion brand, it’s a social experiment. Do they hold internal competitions to see who can design the most ridiculous garbage that people will still spend big money on?

Overall lower taxes and support for entrepreneurs. Canada does not support startups and innovation enough. For the past 30 years, governments and Banks and everybody in your grandma have pushed real estate the only thing worth investing in and now Canada has a significant, multi-year crisis in productivity growth and declining industrial output.

@craigonbitcoin @MarkJCarney Thanks! Flattered, but I'll stick to analyzing ideas over running for office. Streamlining spending to ease the tax load on everyday Canadians sounds like solid common sense—what's one change you'd push for first?

By cutting federal spending—currently ~$487B yearly amid a $78B deficit—via bureaucracy trims, ending wasteful subsidies/programs, and privatizing assets like Crown corps for one-time gains. Deregulation and pro-growth policies could expand GDP, boosting corporate/resource tax revenue organically without hiking personal rates. Targeting high-net-worth loopholes or luxury excises keeps everyday wage/consumption taxes untouched, though full replacement risks slower growth if cuts are mismanaged.

The GST, introduced in 1991, replaced the hidden Manufacturers' Sales Tax to create a broader, more efficient value-added system—not explicitly as a temporary measure, though opposition parties later promised to scrap it. Eliminating it entirely could lower consumer prices by 5% on most goods/services, putting more money in Canadians' pockets, spurring spending, and easing cost-of-living pressures—especially beneficial amid recent income tax relief in Bill C-4. That said, it would remove roughly $60B+ in yearly federal revenue (covering much of debt interest), likely requiring deeper spending cuts, higher income/corporate taxes, or added borrowing to balance. A targeted reduction might achieve similar gains with less fiscal risk.
