@rahulljoshiii Nothing as such to celebrate. It's a counter to some who say Indian genes are not suited for football.

@Pivot2Centre I would rather India win cricket world cups than watch them get beat 8-0 even if they qualified

@Pivot2Centre Cape Verde on their debutant performance held Spain to a draw. The island nation of 5 lakh population wasn't even known to people, their gk who was phenomenal in the match, gained 6 million followers overnight from just 50k, coz the world was watching him. Anything else?

@kkr_russell @Maxi_targaryen We were 2 matches behind from qualifying to the wc this yr...sadly the teams were too tough in the group stage of Asia Cup. But they'll surely do. Sadly women's football is so under spoken.

Football has to be the worst sport. The entire game is just kicking an object around and pretending it's the peak of athletic competition.

@Saniddhya5 Winning 5 wc back to back is impossible in football due to the sheer competition.

@creativerse005 They didn't win 5 world cups in last 24 years, otherwise they might actually stop caring about it a lot too, lol + Ashes and their home test season is considered the peak of Cricket by Australians

Actually we perform better in sports which are popular in our country. For example Chess and Cricket Why should we force ourselves in sports like football or basketball which are not popular in our country ?

Serious question: Why does India underperform in most global sports relative to its massive population? You rarely see Indian athletes or teams dominating at the Olympics or in major World Cups outside of cricket. What are the main reasons for this?

@AbhishekLe29304 @kohli_pagluu Currently the best youth talents are from Kerala though...I can say you their names and you can watch their goals in Asia Cup u23 qualifiers. Also the current NT has no bengal players, the state of football there too is abysmal. Club exists but no support or grassroots.

@AbhishekLe29304 @kohli_pagluu Are you out of your mind?? Get some facts right via the internet Indian football was at its peak during the 70s...where we used to win gold medal in Asia cups, lost to France 2-1 in Olympics... Bengal players from Mohun Bagan and East Bengal used to dominate the team.

@Abhishe58623944 @sehajdhillon_ You think football revolves around the wc and every 4 years random players get to play 😂...There's literally the EUROs, AFCON, CONMEBOL, AFC Asia Cup and other continental tournaments, the Nations League...and then the WC qualifiers which itself spans more than 2 yrs

It is not my team, it is our country. If you feel you need an incentive to support your national team, then I honestly don't know what to say. Going by that logic, countries like Bangladesh should have no support either. Yet their fans proudly back the national team despite being ranked 181 because they love both their country and football. The same can be said for Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tajikistan and many others across Asia. Do you think every lower-league club in Europe plays great football? Of course not. Their fans still turn up because they love the game and feel a connection to their city and club. Support is not always about success. Sometimes it is simply about belonging.

@opinionsaisehi @apostateluffy I agree but still need to correct you twice. One you said it isn't popular or relevant, and the other where without doing good we will be fine. We need to be good in at least a few global sports.

@creativerse005 @apostateluffy I understand what u said. Bt u also proved my point.U cud only list 5 states where football is popular. Thes rest may like it but not as much as cricket. Butt. This is not a reason for Ind to not play football. I want my country leading everywhere. My point was just abt the reach.
