@TweetsByShayan I don't know if Veer is bowlable, if he isn't then you have to replace him with Henry or Chahar depending on conditions
English

@TweetsByShayan Very high uncertainty bounds all around. Would be inclined to try something like Mhatre Samson Urvil Sarfaraz Brevis Dube Kartik Overton Veer Kamboj Noor Khaleel. If you can convince Gaikwad to not take too long to take a look then he gives you better range than Sarfaraz at 4.
English

I'm inclined to agree. I understand why some will instinctively reject this but you must accept that you can't just wish away the fact that Gaikwad currently has a dubious approach to the 20 over game. It's not something you can flip the switch on overnight.

"I personally think that Chennai's best team doesn't have Gaikwad in it" -Rob Barron on @The_CommBox (Think he's partly right if not a 100% accurate, Ruturaj is definitely not in CSK's best top 3, should bat at 4 where he was really productive in t20is for brief)
English

@aravint_2107 @beentumbling It generally isn't. But he looked a bit janky trying to play more balanced roles for the assorted India A sides he's played for recently. In any case the concerns for Wadhera are much much graver.
English

@cricchimp @beentumbling Yeah this exactly my concern. Finishing might actually be an easier role atp for him.
English

@beentumbling @aravint_2107 Feels like he only ever gets to play more than 10 balls on difficult wickets. Few of their middle order guys coast through the middle overs without going hard enough to get out on flat wickets.
English

@iamsportsgeek @aravint_2107 Well that and a few other conspicuous transactions. But we'll leave the piling on young players for now.
English

@cricchimp @aravint_2107 Agreed. Retaining Gaikwad, who is not a great T20 player, at that price ensured CSK started this auction cycle behind the 8-ball
English

@kohlidontretire Did he go crazy? It was a 220+ pitch. 180 SR in the powerplay was par. What happened after that was under par. Not his fault, Ruturaj shouldn't have made him face as much Chahal as possible.
English

@aravint_2107 Would strongly consider swapping Samson and Urvil of Samson's struggles against movement persist. Somehow the dirty sloggers survive those phases not much worse than the normal batters do.
English

@aravint_2107 Samson Mhatre Urvil Sarfaraz Brevis Dube Kartik
Deutsch

@kohlidontretire B: It's certainly not wise. You can't just voluntarily lose phases because you're scared of losing another phase later. Guarantees you won't compete on equal footing.
English

@kohlidontretire It's plausible, maybe even probable that it's a team endorsed approach. But A: he's the captain so he's significantly involved in those discussions and
English

@aravint_2107 Samson will be fine when the ball stops moving off the seam. We just saw him win WT20 player of the tournament a few weeks ago. I don't consider Veer a member of the pure batting lineup, so not relating his selection to Gaikwad's.
English

@cricchimp Even if Kartik isn’t ready, Veer isn’t. Samson reliability is poor as well
English

@viveks1996 @SriniR_2025 Should have tried more or less immediately. Was content to rotate him for two overs while Chahal was a bad matchup for Mhatre. Wasting deliveries *and* hanging his partner out to dry
English

@_Sul01_ The cost benefit of breaking through their SR ceiling is less favourable for them
English

@_Sul01_ They're in a difficult spot because at a certain point increasing your SR isn't really about marginally increasing your intent with your current methods, it requires significantly reworking your shot repertoire and base methods.
