I was a guest on the AI Security Podcast last week! 😊 It's a fun conversation with lots of alpha/future takes. Here's a collection of clips from it. The link to the full episode is in the first reply. Thanks for the invite @hashishrajan & @csima!

I think more of the subsystems as our senses and processing around them. For example today models only respond when prompted. However we are similar. The difference is we have an always on continues stream on our senses. So when we start streaming video, sound or building systems to replicate touch, feel to a LLM then we will see it “always on” and it feel more like a consciousness. However we need to build specialized models to handle these streams similar to how we have reptilian brain. It needs to filter and manage critical things and pass higher level thought up. So building these subsystems are smaller models allowing focus and elevation the the higher model. This feels like it’s doable to build today

My answer to this is that human brains have multiple subsystems that combine to make a creative and conscious intelligence. And what we’ve done with AI so far has only approximated one of those subsystems. The challenge is, we don’t even understand our own very well, so it’s not as if we can simply build the analogs Instead, what we are doing is sort of trying on all these different masks and costumes, and then giving them more and more computing power, and hoping that some similar magic emerges. I would say that’s going fairly well, but the path is not clear because we don’t have a map. We’re just stumbling around with experimentation. I think we will eventually end up building enough of the analogous systems that we will replicate the functionality and therefore the creative performance, but I don’t feel like we have any way of guessing timelines on that because we don’t even know what the subsystems are or how difficult they are to build.

This question is even more puzzling and salient given the existence of Deep Research

Between certain staff (e.g., accountant -> CFO), it may make sense to share a secret passphrase to authenticate each other. If you want to get fancy, share a TOTP seed to reduce the risk further.

After a few months of catching up on AI - I have condensed some thoughts on LLMs into a presentation called "Demystifying LLMS and Threats" : youtube.com/watch?v=q_gDtO… and I hate just video material so I also turned it into a VERY long post here: #b784" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/csima/demystif…

@DanielMiessler Relying solely on "security through obscurity" is not advisable, but incorporating it is very beneficial

🎙️ I want to call out our community for a second on AI. And this applies to me as well because I have many of the same feelings. I feel there are too many in the security community who believe that AI is a minefield, and that it’s our job to warn people not to walk into it. 1/n

When I moved to ATL to join the ISS X-Force 20+ years ago, we all had offices. Seniors had their own, juniors were two per office. I think I shared with @csima at one point. It was a much better setup than open floorplan. wolfstreet.com/2022/11/24/i-a…

There was also nothing that could keep me out of that office. I was 20 and surrounded by a pack of crazy, obsessed, brilliant engineers. Of course I wanted to be there. The idea of being anywhere else didn't occur to any of us.

At @RobinhoodApp we believe the best way to help keep our customers safe is to combine security with a great user experience. That is why we are proud to be one of the first to support Apple's Passkey feature - a step towards a passwordless world.
