Applying for jobs is a hell designed specifically to torment autistic people. Here is a well-paying task which you know in your heart and soul if they just gave you a desk and left you alone and allowed you to do it you would sit there and be more focused and enthusiastic and excellent at it than anyone else in the building. However, before they allow you to perform the task, you must pass through 3-4 opaque social crucibles where you must wear uncomfortable clothes and make eye contact while everyone expects you to lie, but not too much (no one is ever clear exactly how much lying is expected, "over" honesty is however penalized). You are being judged almost entirely on how well you understand these very specific and unclear rules that no one has explained. None of this has anything to do with your ability to perform the desired task.

Pope Leo XIV: “It is, therefore, not enough to state simply that men and women have equal dignity and rights; it is necessary that this be reflected in concrete decisions, such as in laws, access to employment, education, social and political responsibilities, and the way society listens to and values women’s contributions. As long as this gap persists, we cannot say that society truly and fully recognizes that women have the same dignity as men.”

@JennMGreenberg Half my family did die, and what's left haven't helped. This really resonated and that's without my partner's perspective which has an entirely different origin story but the same outcome.

My kids chose tonight to ask me why they’ve never met my parents. They’re old enough now that, “They weren’t nice,” doesn’t work anymore. So I told them about how my dad beat me up, and my mom saw him do it several times, but did nothing. She didn’t get help, that I know of. Didn’t tell anyone, that I know of. As far as I’m aware, everything was swept under the rug, and the abuse continued. And my 10YO asked me, “Is that abuse? Even if she didn’t hit you?” I wanted her to be able to decide for herself, so I asked her, “Well, if you saw someone getting beat up, what would be the right thing to do?” She thought for a moment and she said, “Yeah. That’s abuse.” So, now I’m extremely depressed, but pretending not to be because it’s family time. I feel like my kids got robbed of having grandparents on my side. I feel like they got robbed of having relationships with my siblings (because that’s a whole mess I can’t even explain on X). I feel like my whole family died but I can’t talk about the details. It’s weird. Anyway … if you’re going through something like this, and you’re feeling alone and singled out, know that you’re not alone. It’s not you. It’s them. Abuse is so much more than one event. It’s like an earthquake that sends aftershocks throughout your entire life. I haven’t seen my dad in 20 years, and still his sin is affecting what should be the most innocent and pure parts of my life.

Those 3 teenage boys who raped 2 girls that they targeted. Who filmed their victims being raped. Who were convicted of 11 rape charges between them. And walked out of court with nothing more than Youth Rehabilitation Orders because of a male judge who didn’t want criminalise children. I am absolutely raging about this. When we’re trying to teach boys about consent. And judges are showing them that rape has no consequences. Every man should be up in arms about this. This is why women are so angry

If my boys grow up to be like Jo and Kush from Race Across the World we will have done something right. They’re a brilliant antidote to Tate-style toxic masculinity: bright, kind, compassionate, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and culturally aware. PROPER role models for boys.

there was something beautiful about library checkout cards because you could literally see the history of human curiosity attached to a book. like a tiny ghost trail of strangers connected by the same story.

15 million people don't save for pensions because they don't get paid enough! Insufficient pay to pay for rent, heating, get a mortgage, bring up kids, buy food, buy fuel! How can they save for a pension when they can't pay to live their daily lives?
Department for Work and Pensions@DWPgovuk

15 million people in the UK aren’t saving enough for retirement, warns the Pensions Commission in its interim report. Set up last year, it is examining ways to protect pensions for future generations, with a final report and recommendations due in early 2027. Key findings ⬇️

My 16-year-old son with Down syndrome was so excited to apply for his first job at the local grocery store, but after three interviews, he kept getting turned down. Each rejection crushed him a little more, and he started saying he’d never be good enough to work anywhere. I was heartbroken watching his confidence disappear. Then we walked into Murphy’s Hardware Store, and my son lit up seeing all the organized tools and supplies. The owner, Mr. Murphy, noticed him carefully straightening a display of screws that had gotten messy. ‘You’ve got a good eye for organization,’ he told my son. ‘Are you looking for work?’ When I explained about the previous rejections, Mr. Murphy just shrugged. ‘Their loss. Can you start Monday?’ For the past eight months, my son has been their most reliable employee always on time, never calls in sick, and customers love his genuine enthusiasm for helping them find what they need. ‘Best hiring decision I ever made,’ Mr. Murphy told me recently. ‘He sees the job as important, and that makes all the difference.’ My son comes home every day proud of his work, finally understanding that the right place will see his worth.

Jeffrey Epstein survivor Miss Rosa, just eviscerated the Trump Administration for releasing her name to the public 500+ times. "I kept my identity protected as Jane Doe. I Woke up one day with my name mentioned over 500 times, while the rich and powerful remain protected by redactions. My name was exposed to the world. Now reporters from across the globe contact me. I cannot live without looking over my shoulder. I can only imagine the long-term impact this mistake will have on my life."
