People are always talking about the bloat or overhead of a content management system. Happy for people that feel like this is some sort of victory, but my WP sites load in the same amount of time (or a few nanoseconds slower maybe). Speed isn’t the problem with WordPress, if you use the right tooling. Visitors don’t notice the difference and they don’t care. At all. So, enjoy your performance gains (and your debugging going forward), I guess? I’m sticking with WP. The content is what matters. #WordPress

I built Yoast SEO. I ran my blog on WordPress for years. Then yesterday I moved it to static HTML. Everything that matters, SEO, search, schema, is still there. What I dropped was the overhead. Do you actually need a CMS? For quite some sites: no. joost.blog/do-you-need-a-…

Little generative wallpaper tool I've been working on to create design assets for ui.sh customers ✨ One of the hardest parts about making something look great as a non-designer are the artistic flourishes, optimistic we can help a lot there by throwing simpler, more opinionated knobs in front of frontier image models.

Anthropic just took a big swipe at OpenAI's decision to put ads in ChatGPT. Anthropic is airing ads mocking ChatGPT ads during the Super Bowl, and they're hilarious 😅 Anthropic is also committing to no ads in Claude theverge.com/ai-artificial-…

@steveschoger You’ve been busy. Not rushing you. I bought Tailwind UI for the design inspiration, not the code

They say AI is the end for developers. They say the job market is gone. They say learning to code is pointless. I don’t buy it. I think we're just getting started.

Isn’t it great that AI can inspire talented developers to just bite someone else’s shit and try to tank a business by undercutting the price? Passing on this kind of thing, even if it saves me a Cleanshot sub. Support new ideas and applications please.

CleanShot X is great. The subscription isn’t. So I built Better Shot an open-source, native macOS screenshot tool using Tauri + Rust. Fast. Local. Free forever. Try it → bettershot.site Source code included. No bullshit.

You’ll be seeing a lot of these kinds of posts all over the place, today and going forward. According to the doom-posters, every tech person that isn’t a founder is going to be out of work. Funny thing is - they’ve been saying this for a couple years now. So - why isn’t everyone out of work? Are companies just uninformed? Stupid? Nope - the doom-posters are just saying this shit to boost their own engagement through scarcity and fear. They know they can say whatever they want in order to pump those numbers, and nobody's going to hold them to it if they're wrong. Everybody (except you) wins. The social media platform gives you that emotional response, the poster gets engagement, you feel scared, you keep coming back for more because you feel like you might be at risk if you don't. You look at ads along the way. Step back and understand that you're being played on a number of levels, and you can sidestep this bullshit and keep creating, keep working, keep solving problems. Yes, AI is a tool. But if it could really replace people, nobody would be driving a car. Stay frosty out there.

@lancedockins Lol, touche. I doubt I’d be able to resist a little shit-talking if I was in that position. Maybe that’s why I’m not in that kind of position :)

I actually dig working with a CMS that is not only light-years ahead of its competition, but is also run by someone with some spice, some heat, some actual human emotion. Dude earned the right to talk his shit, and this is an open forum. Please stop urging WordPress to be polite and professional. It feels like walking into a jazz club and asking them to play Baby Shark and to stop smoking those skunky-smelling cigarettes in the back. You took your shot at the king, and y'all missed. #WordPress

I love WordPress-the-software, but this kind of childish nonsense makes me ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with WordPress-the-brand. What childish, petty, unprofessional, shameful, amateur nonsense. All of these people need firing and replacing with capable grown-ups.

@rjs Re: 'click around til you find it:' I've always wondered if we're overcrowding our websites and would be better off staggering sections in some kind of multi-step 'form' where you only see one piece at a time.

After listening to @adamwathan's most recent pod and being super-tempted to be the 200,000th person that gave him advice on what to pursue, I paused and thought: Wait, why don’t I just do this shit? It’s easy to do other people’s dishes when you’re visiting their home for dinner. There’s more meaning in it. "That’s so nice of you, you don't have to do that, etc." Then you go home and walk past your own sink, which is full. I’ll always be a Tailwind fanboy, and will be watching what happens with great interest, but I feel like I’d probably be more useful spotting him on a bench press than giving business advice. (I’m actually in great shape now because of his old Hackers Inc pod on Fitness, go figure)
