@chennaicorp @chennaicorp - Is the Kannammapet pet crematorium operational? Because of LPG shortage we were told it is not operational now. Same is the status of the Bluecross crematorium as well. Is there any alternate please?

Watch | Can Rs 50 change your life? How this Tamil Nadu model can be a new model for the young India. In India, millions chase the same dream — a govt medical seat, a govt job, a better life. In Kolathur, at chief minister @mkstalin’s constituency, the chief minister’s co-working and co-learning centre is quietly helping level that playing field. For Rs 50 (half day) and Rs 100 (full day), youngsters preparing for NEET, JEE and UPSC get access to air-conditioned study space, Wi-Fi, desks, newspapers and civil service books. Monthly packages cost Rs 2,500 — far lower than many private centres. Startups and professionals use the same space too — 40 co-working seats, conference rooms and shared networking. Students travel up to 20 km to study here. Some say the quiet helps them focus. Others say the peer network sharpens their preparation. This TN model can be a model for the entire country. @PMOIndia @narendramodi I present, along with Camera & Video by @ramyasre__n for @TOIIndiaNews Watch full video at: youtu.be/ggR-fUR_5T0

This is how Chennai One signal looks like from a best possible angle. An old signal post that doesn't work hides the signal entirely. Why would a new signal post be laid when the old one stands firm? If at all that was required, why hasn't the old one been removed for months?

Over the last few days, there have been some truly terrible takes on social media about public infrastructure encroachments🤦‍♂️ No one wants to destroy anyone’s livelihood, but if eateries need to use public space, the city authorities should plan proper vending zones with designated booths and waste disposal systems, not allow random setups where even basic hygiene for the very people they claim to serve is an afterthought. The worst affected by pavement encroachments are not the so called “elites” who just drive past in their cars, but : The middle class working men and women, and school children, who are forced to walk on the main carriageway in live traffic risking their lives Nearby residents, who despite paying their taxes, suffer blocked storm‑water drains during heavy rain and greater exposure to diseases because of improper food‑waste disposal Ordinary citizens who face increased stray dog bites due to food waste being dumped carelessly in public spaces. Meanwhile, many of these eateries effectively enjoy rent‑free, regulation‑free spots, perhaps only paying informal “hafta” locally, while another equally economical food‑stall owner runs a proper shop, pays rent, taxes, and utility bills, and ends up looking like a fool for following the rules. Who speaks for that person ??? Stop being complicit in this injustice under the smokescreen of “supporting poor street vendors.” Show the same concern for: Poor and middle‑income consumers who are forced to eat in unhygienic, unsafe environments. Other road users from similar economic backgrounds whose right to safe, obstruction free pedestrian movement is being taken away. The same logic applies to people sleeping overnight at KCBT or similar bus terminals. It is not their fault, and no one is saying they should be thrown out on the streets. Instead, there should be: More affordable accommodation options if current facilities are insufficient or unaffordable. Government can invest on subsidies and more sleep pods for them to stay in dignified, planned alternatives, rather than these bunches normalizing people sleeping on floors and then branding any concern about this as “elitism.” Public spaces are meant to be used as they were designed for , Footpaths are for safe, seamless pedestrian movement, not for commercial encroachment by big malls or small stalls, and not for dumping waste. Remove both types of encroachments no questions asked !! Bus and transport terminals are for passenger movement and transit, not makeshift dormitories. These facilities are built with public money from both the poor and the rich, and everyone has the right to demand that they be maintained as intended. So please, drop the noise and your faux‑socialist posturing. If there is genuine empathy, it should extend to all vulnerable groups including that poor food stall consumer, the middle class commuter, that school child & the nearby resident, and the compliant small business owner , not only to those encroaching on shared public spaces at everyone else’s cost.!!! #Chennai #PublicInfra #PedestrianInfra
