In 1972, when supply management was established, Canada had about 45,000 dairy farms. Today, we’re down to barely 9,000.
Proportionally, the U.S. experienced a similar decline—without quotas.
Supply management doesn’t save the "family farm".

An old boss of mine once explained dairy supply management as the price Canada paid for family farms. Do you want corporate farms or family farms? Even if family farms are corporations, they're still owned by Canadians. Or do you prefer US corp ownership of Canada's farms?

You ain’t have to like him. He was elected to put America’s interests first.
Post-war Europeans became spoiled and decadent. They lost their will to fight for their own freedom because they took America’s protection for granted. Over time they grew complacent and let mass immigration destroy their culture.
What Trump is doing is shattering that illusion of endless comfort and reminding them that real national pride means being willing to die for your homeland. America won’t always be the “daddy” you looked down on and depended on—you may have to fend for yourselves someday.

I can’t believe people hold views like this and still expect to be taken seriously. What country would willingly endure such a devastating strike—its top leadership wiped out and 50 years of hard work completely decimated—only to turn around and do the exact same thing again? If the next generation of Iranian leaders wants the same outcome as the last one, nothing will stop the U.S. and Iran from repeating this destructive cycle forever. Unless you have a death wish or you’re completely irrational, you’d choose a different path.

This is so strange. The US and Israel already threw the whole book at Iran. Why would Iran now be shit scared of blows it has already absorbed?
They landed their best punch. It failed. Why would Iran be afraid now? (As opposed to ex ante. This radical uncertainty is an imp reason why threats are more useful than action.)

No, he didn’t say “invade.” He simply expressed interest in acquiring Greenland for strategic defense purposes in any future conflicts with China and Russia. Recent developments make it clear these nations aren’t guaranteed to stand with America when push comes to shove. If we’re truly allies, why would the UK deny the US use of that island base America helped build? And would Denmark side with the USA in a future conflict with China? It’s far from certain, given public attitudes there and China’s predatory economic leverage. So yeah, he wasn’t wrong to voice a strong desire for Greenland.

- The US threatened to invade a NATO ally only a few moths ago
- The US president denigrated the contribution of NATO allies in the Afghan War
- If it’s so easy why doesn’t the US Navy do it?
- Under what article in the NATO charter would this fall under?
- What’s the strategy? Has the US deigned to come tell its allies ag NATO?
It’s still in Europe’s interest to help the US and themselves but the idea NATO is letting the US down here is just ridiculous
