@SMickey65012 @Fxhedgers He is literally telling you to update your withholding to stop sending the government so much money.
English

@Fxhedgers Omg what is this dude trying to pull? I don’t trust this government with one more penny that they deserve. How about you get billionaires to stop laying people off so they you have more tax payers? Can’t squeeze blood from a stone, you South of Broad carpetbagger.

@buanadha @MattGlassman312 It is in Chernow's biography of Grant.
English

@AccentsSouthern Lee boarded the Danville train right here in my hometown when he evacuated Richmond. That line is still in use, but the station is now an Outback Steakhouse.
English

@birdyluisa @MattGlassman312 There is absolutely no evidence of this, and these memoirs were written immediately before he died.
English

@MattGlassman312 He came to regret much about his kindnessses to Lee during the violent aftermath of Reconstruction. It's hard to read this and see how Grant thought he was setting the South on a path of genuine rehabilitation.

On May 12-13, 1865, more than a month after Lee's surrender at Appomattox, Union and Confederate forces fought the last battle of the Civil War near Brownsville, Texas. Colonel Theodore Barrett ordered approximately 300 Union soldiers, including men from the 62nd U.S. Colored Infantry, to attack Confederate positions at Palmito Ranch. The Confederate forces, led by Colonel John "Rip" Ford, counterattacked with roughly 190 men and drove the Union troops back in disarray.
The battle ended in a Confederate victory, with Union forces suffering about 30 casualties compared to minimal Confederate losses. Ironically, both sides knew the war had effectively ended weeks earlier—Lee had surrendered on April 9, and Lincoln had been assassinated on April 14. News traveled slowly to the remote Texas-Mexico border, but many participants likely fought anyway out of duty, stubbornness, or simply because orders were given.
The engagement proved particularly absurd given its timing and location. While the nation began reconstructing itself, soldiers in South Texas engaged in what amounted to a pointless skirmish. Some historians suggest Colonel Barrett ordered the attack to capture cotton or livestock, or simply to gain military glory before the war officially concluded. Whatever his motivation, the operation achieved nothing of strategic value.
Private John J. Williams of the 34th Indiana Infantry became the last soldier killed in Civil War combat during this battle. His death, like the battle itself, served no purpose in determining the war's outcome. The Confederate troops who won this final engagement would surrender just weeks later, making their victory entirely hollow.

@Metal_Crow Sorry Prof I appreciate the like but Fen Phen killed a lot of people and maybe you should study history and irony before you dip into these topics.

@TonyFelonius @KennethKirkPC @RealOxfordComma @ohhyesweirdo You can’t write a sentence demonstrating your point in a 280 character tweet?
English

@dchickman @KennethKirkPC @RealOxfordComma @ohhyesweirdo The default is that it’s not necessary. It’s only needed when items in a list need to be distinguished. There are many examples online that you can look up much more easily than I can explain in a 280 character tweet.
English

@TonyFelonius @KennethKirkPC @RealOxfordComma @ohhyesweirdo What’s a good example of when it is not correct?
English

@KennethKirkPC @RealOxfordComma @ohhyesweirdo In some contexts it’s correct, in others not. The mark of an intelligent person is knowing which is which.
