@luinalaska Respectfully disagree. It is morally wrong to demand someone else give up what they have earned, so you can have it (not you personally, but generationally). BTW I do give money to my kids and grandkids and enjoy doing so. But that's MY choice. They don't demand it.

It is morally wrong to not pass generational financial security to your own children if you have the means to do so. It is also selfish and stupid.
Kenneth Kirk PC@KennethKirkPC

@luinalaska A lot of the responses to this, conflate "it's good to give to your kids/grandkids" (100% agree) with "You are morally wrong not to give". Those are very different statement, especially coming from those who would wish to receive.

@luinalaska The reason boomers don't want to give up homes, is we were raised on the idea of deferred gratification; if you delay spending in younger years, you can enjoy life later on. So we did, and now young people who don't want to wait, tell us to sell the homes we raised our kids in?

You’re totally right. No one can or should force a boomer out of their 4 bedroom house to make space financially and quite literally for the next generation. True. Most generations understood wealth in more linear terms. Grandpa to son to grandson. The hope and expectation was that the children had the benefit of their lineage. No one can make the boomers less selfish. History will be unkind. So will statistics. But you are technically correct. No one can force them nor should we try. The legacy is earned and it will be lasting.

@luinalaska People usually remain in their home because they can't afford to move, or because they like their home, neighbors and community. No one has a right to tell them they must move anymore than anyone has a right top their money.

@shesbonky Once again Boomers have you beat. We had to do that with scrolls that we had to unroll, and then write the essays with a quill pen on papyrus.

@DrNeilStone I had that issue for a while. I would suddenly start getting "looks automated" messages. Ironically, it was Grok that helped me figure out what I was doing wrong.

After a certain age, your parents slowly become your children. They ask simple questions, repeat stories, and depend on your patience the way you once depended on theirs. Very few understand this role reversal. What looks like innocence or inconvenience is really time coming full circle. Don't correct them harshly. Don't rush them. Care for them the way they once protected you. This is not a burden. It is repayment, quietly wrapped as love.

One thing that’s funny to me is how we often act as if a QB isn’t very good if he is projected to be a “backup” in the NFL! This stuff is nuts to me… We are lucky to have 32 really good starting QBs in the league at any one time, being one of the next 32-64 best QBs in the world is incredible! QBs out there, many of us projected as “backups” & were ecstatic to be one, knowing we either had a great job or we were getting an opportunity to prove we could possibly be more! Every job has a #2 or #3 behind them, perfectly ok to at least start as one of those individuals!

As I’m in the market for a new hat, I’m torn between a homburg or a boater. Any opinions one way or the other? While not quite a “Vox Populi Vox Dei” moment, I’m curious to hear what others think.

@Sassafrass_84 Slight disagreement with the end: if they can't show where the money went, the department should still be funded. But the responsible individuals should go to jail.

Gen Z is always bitching about how they can’t afford anything and I get it. They kinda got screwed. But every generation has its own downsides. My grandparents grew up during the f***ing Great Depression! I’m a Gen X kid. My dad taught me how to ride a bike by holding the seat at the top of a hill with sticker bushes at the bottom and said “when you turn away before the sticker bush you’ll be riding your bike.” He’d let go and face first I’d go into the bushes. Took 6 or 7 tries before I dodged them. No helmet, no nothing. Just pain. And in college we didn’t have DoorDash; we had to put on clothes, walk out into the elements, and actually drive to Wendy’s. HUNGOVER! Point is I agree you guys got screwed, but feeling sorry for yourself won’t fix anything. Time to put on your big boy pants and roll with the punches. Yes life isn’t fair, but at least you aren’t storming the beaches of Normandy. I mean in real life, not on Call of Duty.

I just want people who are smart to stop saying “my wife and I” or “my husband and I” when it’s supposed to be me. This one is so very easy to fix. If you would say me you say my wife and me. —She and I went to work. He told my wife and me. I went to work. He told me. Let me help
