he hears cas say and turns to look at him. and cas is smiling. a genuine, warm smile. “…awesome.” dean says and can’t stop smiling either. and for the entire drive home, dean very loudly sings along to his music, while cas is smiling at him.

for over a decade you have never been serious about it.” and dean is like “oh.” and remembers all those times he did call cas pet names or flirted with him. “I didn’t consider that…” dean then says sheepishly & stares straight ahead. “but yes, i’d love to go out with you, dean.”

dean wants to take cas on a date. however, that turns out to be much harder than he thought. none of his flirting works on cas. pet names get no reaction out of cas, his pick up lines just get him an unamused stare, and even if he implies getting dinner together

@deansfreckls May I also share my headcanon that cas would call dean names of some insects as endearments, like a grasshopper, bee/bumblebee/honeybee, dragonfly etc....

dean and cas start dating & for cas who’s never really been in an actual relationship it’s new territory. so he uses movies & magazines as a sort of guide. and one day, dean is in the kitchen and cas asks him a question, but adds “honey” or “sweetheart” at the end

@_dragonscales yep!! so sooo canon the soft & or poetic pet names just fit cas sooo much and cas saying “my human” in response is real to me he would totally do that 😭

@deansfreckls Cas would try saying different pet names until he finds the ones that feel natural to him🙂‍↕️ (in my head it's be "my love/dear/heart/soul" or dean would call him "my angel" at some point and cas would respond with "my human" but like- Sincerely)

but despite that, it also makes dean feel all fuzzy inside and he wants cas to say it again and again and again. kinda like when cas said “i’m your huckleberry” and dean gulps & says “yeah exactly…”

of it and dean isn’t sure how to react. because cas wouldn’t be able to say it 100% confidently at first, so it sounds a bit awkward or blunt compared to dean who uses pet names all the time. things like sweetheart or sunshine just roll off his tongue without a problem.
