The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) confirmed that supplies to buyers in both countries started in January 2026 via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), expanding Azerbaijani gas exports to 16 countries total, including 10 EU members.

@BrianMcDonaldIE Nobody gives a shit. We can’t do business only with Western democracies; we must get our oil and gas from Qatar, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Libya, etc. The point is to avoid getting it from countries hostile to us, like Russia.

Untill the Ukraine war Azerbaijan had a lower democracy index than Russia, and its not gotten better, Russia only got slightly worse than them:

The EU and Armenia agreed on investments under the Global Gateway program, expected to reach €2.5 billion The decision was made at the summit held in Yerevan today. In addition, the sides adopted a Joint Partnership Statement outlining cooperation in transport, energy, and digitalization, according to Armenia’s government. Following the EU–Armenia summit, Yerevan signed strategic partnership agreements with four countries: the United Kingdom, France, Croatia, and Bulgaria. The European Union also allocated €30 million to support Armenia’s armed forces. “Russia abandoned Armenia, after which the republic suddenly woke up and turned toward closer ties with Europe,” French President Emmanuel Macron said. Brussels also backed Armenia’s “European aspirations.” The sides agreed to move toward visa liberalization and expand cooperation in the defense sector, as well as strengthen efforts to prevent the circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions. Energy cooperation was highlighted as a separate key area of collaboration.
