Somewhat counter-intuitively, Edinburgh is farther west than Bristol, and Scotland has the westernmost point in the UK (Ardnamurchan).

Harry Kane is an underrated genius. Did you see his second goal for Bayern last night in the Champions League? He has already scored 47 goals this season. And he comes across as a gentleman. One of England’s very finest.

Today’s Poll: If a couple had two adult children - one financially very successful and one struggling - should their Will leave their estate 50-50, or divide it more based on need? Which comes CLOSEST to your view in this hypothetical?

@MatthewStadlen Those who say they don’t rate Harry are. Bullshitting attention seekers. Arsenal fans typically. They have the same ailment as those who pretend to see integrity and competence in Starmer.

@NickCohen4 Do you have some kind of guide to what we can say about Israel, Gaza and the West Bank that would not be antisemitic?

I understand some people can’t pay for Netflix to watch Louis Theroux’s documentary on the manosphere, so I thought I’d summarise it for you. There’s a bunch of slightly balding chubby-muscle men who look very divorced and they kind of strut around like an insecure flock of chickens, and they say some very silly stuff that maybe a 9 year old boy might say when hitting his sister with a truck. These men are not smart and they do NOT come across as smart. Then there’s these other men who are kind of probably a bit gay which is fine, we love a rainbow, and they are super into self care and beauty but have rebranded it looksmaxxing because obviously, women’s interests in aesthetics is ew. Also stupid men, but in a twinky way. All are very upset that they look stupid whenever their views are repeated back to them and the logic falls through the floor like a cartoon piano. You’re welcome.

This is difficult to watch, it's embarrassing, it's enraging, it's shameful. Emma Reynolds the Secretary of State for the Environment and David Hill the head of water at Defra appeared before MPs on Tuesday where they repeated the same old lie, that water company shareholders invest their money in the companies and we, the bill payers, pay them back over 10, 15, 20, 30 years. Even Ofwat have owned up, that's a lie the £104 billion "private sector investment" is coming directly out of your pockets, your bank account. For God sake just tell the truth. Barry Gardiner, you're a star. 👏👏👏
Barry Gardiner MP@BarryGardiner

Since privatisation water companies have taken more than £85billion in dividend and piled up more than £60billion of debt. Yet all capital and operational costs are covered by bill payers. So why keep a privatised structure for a natural monopoly like water?

Conventional wisdom states that it's not possible for a stream to flow in two different directions. It is only made possible because the North Two Ocean Creek lies directly on top of the continental divide, with a shallow ridge in the middle of it that allows water to flow in both directions. Seismic activity in the future may change this, but for now it remains one of the few examples of a river that ends up in two different oceans. (See also Echimamish River, Isa Lake, Casiquiare Canal. However, Two Ocean Creek is the best example.) /END PS. Thanks to @TakeThatClouds for the pointer.

In the state of Wyoming in the USA lies a real hydrological oddity. It's a small stream (creek) that is thought to be the only one of very few examples in the world. It is placed so precariously and perfectly that it's hard to believe it is able to exist. 1/n

Italy has 7,904 municipalities. Tourists visit maybe 15. These aren't "cheap places to test it out." They're cities where wealthy Italians live their best lives, completely off the radar. For each one, I broke down property prices, nearest airport, population, who it's actually for, and the honest downsides you should be aware of. 7 cities I'd personally relocate to. Data on every single one:

I'm Italian. I just got back from Rome. Over dinner, old friends and I started arguing about the same thing we always argue about: which cities in Italy are genuinely incredible but nobody ever talks about? We went back and forth for hours. By the end of the night, we had a list. 7 hidden cities that most people, including most Italians, will never think to visit, let alone move to. No crowds. No tourist markup. Insane quality of life. Thread 🧵
