I have to be honest and say that a one-man Uncle Vanya would not normally have me rushing to the theatre, but I knew that if Andrew Scott was that one man, I had to go. He was the best Hamlet (in a long lifetime of Hamlets) I’ve ever seen, and I couldn’t miss this (though nearly did, but that’s another story) and am still reeling from it. Scott is just staggering in it. It’s a completely mad idea, but he gets to the essence of Chekhov – the pent-up savagery, the wit, the despair, the bravery and the cowardice. And it’s a brilliant production. I feel very lucky to have seen it @dukeofyorksLDN @vanyaonstage #Vanya
