The Bank of England just sold a 2061 gilt at £23.41. It bought it at £100. A 67% loss, indemnified by you. This is the receipt arriving in the post. From the automation revolution, Britain’s demand-side collapse has already begun, the cognitive middle is the collateral, and the £9.18 trillion of housing wealth on household balance sheets is about to discover what it actually is. The BoE knows. The Treasury knows. No party will say it out loud. The coming recession is merely foreplay. Read the full diagnosis 👇 open.substack.com/pub/anglofutur…

@MrMBrown That’s too logical because even a few quid a month might compound out to tens of thousands where as that one lucky hit means millions over night that’s the dream you can’t beat dreams with logic. Even tho we all know investing is the right path

There are more ISA millionaires in the UK, than the number of people who’ve become millionaires by winning the lottery Yet, around four times more people play the lottery every month, than actively invest in a stocks & shares ISA

@GBInvestor1990 We need to nationalise the North Sea and use our remaining reserves to go full nuclear with Rolls-Royce smr taking the lead as well as the project in the midlands for fusion. What’s left goes into a ‘well managed’ no ministerial influence sovereign wealth fund.

Uncomfortable truth: A lot of investing posters in the UK, including me, post daily on the need to cut back spends and stop being materialistic. But, in the UK, our economy is predicated on a service economy that needs people to buy nonsense. We don't extract our own oil and gas, and we tax our energy so high that it costs far too much to run industry so it closes or moves abroad. Finance and service. That's all we have. If everyone stopped buying nonsense in the UK, and started investing in US stocks, the entire UK economy would collapse.

I have £70k left on my mortgage. 14 years at 4%. I want to pay it off early within 2-3 years, throwing lump sums at it, but my wife thinks just let it roll and invest the extra. I want to do this for peace of mind. Which option is more beneficial?

Just done a little research … The DPA document targets: It prioritizes US domestic expansion for transformers, electrical core steel (GOES), transmission lines, substations, and related supply chains due to shortages, long lead times, and foreign dependence. Goodwin does not appear to be a major player in large power transformers or grain-oriented electrical steel. Their power gen work is more on turbine shells, castings for high-temperature/high-alloy applications, etc.

🥽 Just initiated a starter position in Goodwin PLC #GDWN. Here's why this quiet Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer deserves more attention IMO. Founded in 1883, family controlled, zero sell side analyst coverage. Two divisions: precision valves & castings for defence, nuclear & oil/gas, plus industrial refractories. What makes it unique? Near impossible to replicate. Long cycle mission critical components for naval defence & nuclear decommissioning. Switching costs are enormous. Customers don't shop on price, they shop on certification. The numbers back it up: revenue has grown from £127m (FY2015) to £220m (FY2025), and profit before tax from £20m to £34m, with operating margins expanding to 22.5%. ROE of 35%. Net margin 15.9%. All while paying a dividend, which has been put into question after two canceled orders which saw a huge share price correction. I've taken a small starter position. Watching the August results closely, if order book and margins continue to improve, I'll be doubling my stake. 🤞 £ 113.20

$OKLO Price Target Announced at $130.00/Share by Tigress Financial Key takeaways from the report: Target Price/Rating: Tigress Financial initiated coverage on Oklo $OKLO with a Buy rating and a $130 price target. Driving Factors: The bullish outlook is based on Oklo's advanced sodium-cooled fast reactor technology, High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuel cycle, and strong positioning for AI data center energy needs. Market Context: This target is among the higher projections as analysts hold mixed views on the company's valuation, with other recent targets ranging from as low as $14 to highs around $168. Business Model: Oklo focuses on an "own-and-operate" model, targeting rapid deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs). #Oklo #smr #nuclear #nuclearenergy #haleu

Scheduled a conversation with my boss to talk about reducing hours. Should I go softly into it and ask for 10% less hours to start with and then ask for more in future....or should I go full bore and ask for the 40% reduction I really want.

The reason you can’t afford a house is a mere footnote in a Bank of England meeting from December 2003. Most of you were still in primary school. By the time you could open a savings account, the house your parents bought for 3.5x their salary cost 7x yours. By the time you could apply for a mortgage, it cost 8x. The deposit your dad saved in 8 months will take you 47. CPI hit 2% in most months throughout. The framework was working. The Monetary Policy Committee declared victory at every meeting. They were right; at least for the measure they were watching… You weren’t priced out. You were written out. Of a number, in a room, by people who have since retired into the houses you’ll never own. Their children will be your landlords. gbtt.info/your-generatio…
