@CoastalGranma @PrincessBravato I always like my suggestion (that makes conservative heads explode) Women should keep their their name, and the female offspring should get the husbands name and the male offspring should get the wife's name😈 Guarantees that the men will value their female children a lot more!

I wish I had. My married daughter did, and her child has her last name. When my ex left me for another woman and married her, she actually pussy-whipped my ex in to telling me that I should change my name back to my maiden name. Which I didn't care for me, but it wasn't the last name of my kids, and it was at a time when it would have been embarrassing for them. Honestly, things would be a lot simpler and easier if we used a matriarchal rule for last names. Just like they do for mitochondrial DNA.

Ladies, when you get married, consider keeping your maiden name. I did, and I am glad I did.
