🎬✨ The Embassy in partnership with Red Lotus Asian Film Festival organised Indian Film Festival 2026 on 20 & 22 March at Vienna's iconic Wien Mitte Cinema, highlighting the diversity of Indian cinema across languages and genres. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador @shambhukumaran highlighted the powerful cultural impact of Indian films in India and across the world, bringing stories, traditions, and emotions to global audiences. 🇮🇳🌍 At the opening night, as part of the Embassy's ongoing efforts to promote 'One District One Product', a special coffee tasting session was organised, featuring #ODOP coffee from India. From the Kannada epic drama Kantara to the Hindi thriller Andhadhun and the heartwarming Sui Dhaaga, the festival showcased both regional and Hindi films, reflecting India’s rich storytelling traditions. Members of the diplomatic corps, friends of India, and the Indian community in Austria attended the film festival.

The Embassy launched the inaugural WISSEN Awards (Women in Scientific Studies to Empower Nations) to honour women researchers contributing to India–Austria and *India-multilateral* research partnerships. The awards highlight excellence in research, innovation, and academic leadership, inspiring emerging scientists and strengthening knowledge collaboration between our two nations. Austrian tech meets Indian scale, spurs joint innovation! The 1st ever India Science Day was celebrated at @tu_wien with the support of the Embassy. In his address at the opening ceremony, Ambassador @shambhukumaran spoke of the deepening 🇮🇳🇦🇹 science partnership and the opportunities for stronger institutional collaboration between Indian and Austrian Universities. The event featured presentations on ongoing collaboration between TU Wien and Indian universities including IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur as well as panel discussions on research partnerships and technology development across the two countries.

Marking India’s Chairmanship of the Vienna Chapter of the G-77 (@G77_Vienna), and in the spirit of Vienna’s ball season, a vibrant Garba celebration was organised at the United Nations Offices in Vienna (@UN_Vienna), in partnership with the VIC Indian Club. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador @shambhukumaran highlighted India’s strong commitment to the G-77 and multilateralism, noted Garba’s inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and reflected on the aptness of sharing this unique social dance form with the global community during Vienna’s festive ball season. Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, UN officials, and friends of India enthusiastically participated, making the event a true celebration of culture and community. 🌍✨

77th Republic Day Reception was held in Vienna last evening . Highlights: 1️⃣In his address Amb @shambhukumaran spoke of India's successful journey as a nation, of the growing friendship and partnership with Austria and reiterated 🇮🇳's strong commitment to multilateralism. 2️⃣ Book Launch: A Panchatantra storybook (in German) illustrated by renowned Austrian cartoonist, Mr Klaus Pitter, was released on the occasion. This special 🇮🇳🇦🇹storybook project has been designed in partnership with @Stadt_Wien to support the EU's BOUNCE BACK schools programme aimed at building resilience & life skills in 🇦🇹 students. 3️⃣ Vande Mataram: As part of the ongoing celebration of 150 years of #VandeMataram, the Choir of the Vienna University Philharmonic Orchestra captivated the audience with their soulful rendition of India's National Song. 4️⃣ ODOP (One District One Product) Coffee Tasting: In a fitting tribute to Vienna's famous Coffee culture, the Embassy organised a special coffee tasting session featuring #ODOP coffee from Coorg, Araku Valley and Chikmagalur. Shooting for the stars! ✨🚀 Embassy of India, in partnership with Montenegro Space Research @MontenegroSpace organized a CanSat Competition for students from Montenegro.
