Ms. Manisha Swami, DDG, ICCR, delivered a lecture on ICCR’s role in building cultural bridges across the Global South during the Special Course for Diplomats from Cambodia and Timor Leste at Sushma Swaraj Foreign Service Institute, under the Ministry of External Affairs, India.
The session highlighted ICCR’s initiatives in strengthening cultural ties and fostering mutual understanding among nations of the Global South. The programme also featured a lecture-cum-demonstration of Chhau Dance, offering diplomats an engaging glimpse into India’s rich classical dance tradition.

Ms. Manisha Swami, DDG, ICCR, represented the Indian Council for Cultural Relations as one of the panelists in the discussion titled “Cultural Institutions Fostering Leadership: Shaping Inclusive Futures.” at OP Jindal University @JindalGlobalUNI
The distinguished panel featured the Ambassador of Norway and Directors from the Italian Cultural Centre and the Spanish Cultural Centre. During the discussion, Ms. Swami spoke about the importance of gender inclusiveness in cultural institutions and the vital role these institutions play in promoting equitable leadership, representation, and inclusive cultural dialogue.

A Global Celebration of Cacao: Food of the Gods
An art exhibition, “Ecuador: The Origin of Cacao – Culture, Heritage and Identity,” was inaugurated on 11 March 2026 at the Exhibition Hall of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations by K. Nandini Singla, Director General, ICCR, along with Fernando Bucheli, Ambassador of Ecuador to India, in the presence of a distinguished delegation of Ambassadors and representatives from Madagascar, Colombia, Austria, Chile, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Lithuania, Guatemala, Saudi Arabia, Burundi, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Peru, El Salvador, Brazil, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Gambia, and Norway, as well as representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador in India, the exhibition celebrates Ecuador’s rich cacao heritage and showcases the culture, traditions, and identity rooted in one of the world’s finest cacao-producing regions.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from 11 to 25 March 2026 at the ICCR Exhibition Hall, Azad Bhavan.
