@vickytnz @moffwalla I'd add to that the challenge of improving your interview skills. It's up to you to undertake training or find opportunities to practice and inevitably the best way to learn is by doing.

@devilmaycare666 @moffwalla Still at least some thinking time. I do think that gov has some particular challenges: - often the hiring panel are people doing it above and beyond the day job, so can’t easily do multiple rounds - needing a mixed panel puts a pressure on scheduling, hard to have extra time

The more I talk to people the more I’m convinced that we should send job interview questions to people before the interview. Too many stories of amazing people—especially designers—being perfect for a role but just having a bad day and bombing an interview.

@vickytnz @moffwalla In the Canadian government you get the interview questions 30 minutes before the interview to review and think through some answers. Still not ideal though as there's not any real dialogue. Think more oral exam...

@moffwalla There’s nothing worse than bombing an interview just from having a bad day. It doesn’t help that there’s often not much “give” in interviews, we can’t do a Flashdance and ask to start again…
