Southern Pit Bar-B-Que (McGhin's) in Griffin, Georgia, is a classic BBQ joint and well worth a trip. Smoked pork is flavorful and sauce is tangy. I always get the hand-cut fries, slaw and Brunswick stew… Cornbread is crackling. 4.5 pigs of 5.

Pigeons are the most revered and reviled creature in the world...Just ask a few friends their opinion. In Mumbai, India the debate centered around feeding pigeons: nytimes.com/2025/08/26/wor… #pigeons

On Saturday stopped by Smoke and Barrels BBQ in Evans, Ga. I had pulled pork sammich, Cole slaw (vinegar based) and Brunswick Stew over rice. Pulled pork was perfectly smoked and the Brunswick stew over rice was very tasty, not a lot of stew, but plenty of rice. 4 out of 5 pigs.

On this Veteran’s Day I am remembering my father Hulett “Abe” Widener, who served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was extremely proud of his service in the military and shared with his family many stories and lessons of his time in the military.

8 Towns in Montana with Vibrant Downtown Areas worldatlas.com/cities/8-towns… I have visited six of the eight and I have to agree with their choices. Whitefish, Gateway to Glacier, is my favorite. I have to admit I have only been there in the summer.

If you love #Seinfeld and appreciate the work of @IJasonAlexander you will love the latest podcast from @mikeroweworks. #MAGIC
The Real Mike Rowe@mikeroweworks

I Thought There Would be More Plumes It's become tiresome, hasn't it? The way I'm constantly telling you that this week's episode of The Way I Heard It is the best one yet? I do apologize for that, but this week's episode really is the bees knees. @IJasonAlexander is a perfect guest. Warm, honest, funny, and remarkably candid about the twists and turns of his remarkable career. I had a ball on his podcast a few months ago, and I'm pretty sure he had a ball on mine. At least, he said he did. Of course, he's a very talented actor, so I probably wouldn't know if was shining me on, but I sure had a good time, and I bet you will, too. Our whole conversation is here - bit.ly/TWIHI399, or on your favorite podcast app. It's worth your time. Enjoy.

While in @StSimonsIsland Ga, we always stop by The Crap Trap to enjoy some of the best fried seafood on the coast. I always love to get the combo with fish and shrimp. Battered fries and the southern slaw complement the meal with sweetness and salty goodness. 4.5 out of 5 crabs.

It’s #internationalcatday2024 and in Sylva, NC the American Museum of the House Cat is celebrating the cat everyday. It is an amazing collection of memorabilia…my favorites were the cat carousel and the cat pinball machines. Like cats it is worth a visit.

Near Linville, NC Grandfather Mtn. rises up 5946 ft. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My first visit this summer and I was awed by the views in every direction and the mile high swinging bridge. It is run by a non-profit @GrandfatherMtn So much to see!

If you love fresh trout and southern fare then you will love #TheSpeckledTrout in @BlowingRock_NC. So many different preps from grilled, fried, blackened, a sandwich, or in a dip. Complimented by some great regional sides…slaw, mac and cheese, and my favorite hoppin’ john.

Looking for traditional #BBQ in Griffin, GA stop by McGhin’s Southern Pit. Open since 1984, serving chopped pork, chicken and ribs with delicious sides and in-house made desserts…blackberry cobbler is one of my favorites. I usually get pork plate with hand-cut fries and slaw.

Enjoyed a visit to #GreggFarm on Hollonville Road in Concord, GA today. We travelled 40 minutes to get some fresh peaches and eat some homemade peach ice cream…worth the trip. A great place to take the family to get some GA peaches for a fresh cobbler.
