In your poker career, have you ever took a beat that you just couldn’t get over? It was about 12 years ago. I was playing $1/$3 at the Gemini players club. I bought in for $150 grinded all day was up to $1,050 approx. I was ready to quit and was playing my last free hands before the blinds. I’m UTG with 7s7c I make it $15 to go, get 4 callers. Flop AhAs7h the blinds folded pre so I’m first act. I check, next guy bets $40, call call, I raise to $140. Two call other guy folds. Turn is 9h. I bet $200 call but the second guy jams for over $1k. I snap call and the other guy calls. Now the pot has ballooned to over $3k and there was a side pot between the other two guys. I show my boat, one guy had Kh8h for the nut flush. The other guy had AcJc. Sure enough the river was a J. I felt like I was going to puke lol. I didn’t play poker for 4 months after that. But now I realize good players take more beats because they usually have the best hand when the money goes in.
