These ads from federal and Ontario governments about “building” are everywhere - radio, TV, YouTube even LinkedIn. If this was true people would feel economy is doing great without the ads telling them.

@Darshil29821539 @OdyTrismegistus Immigration is not the only factor obviously - we also have weak economy, ~7% unemployment rate, trade uncertainty, AI. Immigration targets are still too high though as more people competing for fewer jobs leads pushes wages down.

@OdyTrismegistus @dima_nomad Why don’t you ask him to be a realist? I’m not arguing that immigration has no role to play, but everything's not solely about immigration. It’s been a while since web developers stopped commanding the same premium they used to.

My latest in @globeandmail The paycheque paradox: If wages are rising, why do Canadians feel left behind? Because inflation metrics miss real purchasing power. Avg Annual Growth (20 yrs): • 🥇 Gold: +12.6% • 📈 S&P/TSX: +8.7% • 🏠 Home prices: +4.8% • 🛒 CPI: +2.2% • 💼 Wages: +3.2% CPI misses: • 🧱Assets are largely excluded • ⚖️ Inflation hits households unevenly 👉 Result: younger Canadians earn more but own less. This isn’t a paradox. It’s a measurement gap. Full piece below👇 ------------------------ Provided by WOWA.ca Simply Know Your Options🔍

Caveats: these are estimates. Actual tax collection lags (quarterly installments, annual filing). Effective rates can be lower than 15% due to deductions. And provinces separately gain billions in royalties and provincial corporate tax — but that doesn't flow to Ottawa.

The federal government removed the tax on gas and diesel until Labour Day. It will cost $2.4B in forgone revenue. But, we have oil companies who pay more income taxes when oil prices are high. We estimate they will pay $3.3B in additional federal taxes. 1/

Starworks Employment Services located at 29–1310 Mid-Way Blvd, Mississauga, ON, L5T 2K5 has been found non-compliant with Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program regulations and fined $45000 CAD and received a ban status of Eligible. Violations Found: • Code 5: The employer didn't show up for a meeting with the inspector, to answer questions and give documents the inspector asked for.Provision: 209.4(1)(a) • Code 6: The employer didn't give the inspector the documents they asked for.Provision: 209.4(1)(b) • Code 15: The employer was not actively engaged in the business that the foreign national was hired to work for (aside from live-in caregivers).Provision: 209.2(1)(a)(i) or 209.3(1)(a)(i) Date of Final Decision: 2026-03-31 This enforcement action underscores the Canadian government's commitment to upholding the integrity of the Temporary Foreign Worker program, which safeguards vulnerable migrant workers from exploitation in the labour market. With a ban status of Eligible, the employer faced financial penalties but retains the ability to hire temporary foreign workers moving forward, provided it adheres to all program rules. Such oversight is crucial, as it deters abuses that could otherwise lead to poor working conditions, unpaid wages, or unsafe environments for workers far from home. The decision, effective March 31, 2026, signals to other employers the serious consequences of non-adherence, reinforcing broader efforts to maintain a fair and protected temporary labour system across Canada. Second that. Liberals flooded the market with workers suppressing wages pushing many to look for better opportunities elsewhere. If you put exit gates in Canada salaries would go even lower in unregulated industries like IT.

@tobi @dima_nomad @tobi ppl leave because Canadian employers pay pennies on the dollar compared to Americans counterparts. There are more jobs in the US and salaries are double. This is why I left and why many of my friends have as well. Employers/companies are part of the issue. Not just gov

@dima_nomad 🎯 Almost all desk job professions are flooded massive for the employee to have any bargaining power whatsoever. Don't know what shortages people keep talking about when almost all JDs attract 400 CVs on day 1. Add to that drama of ghost jobs !!
