@dkarthikTOI I don't think it will help people. 300 capacity is very less. It looks like mainly for popular figures to land in the city skipping Trichy highway

@ganie006 SG and AAI will do it if terminal building construction work was taken up once, that's their agreement. Curved road right?

@dkarthikTOI That's great news. But as per AAI, the primary issue for Thanjavur Airport is a direct road link from the terminal to the highway. If the state hands over the land means AAI will construct approach road ?

@bigblackeey Same question. They say domestic need is there. Especially from tourists, for temples. Will help politicians and bureaucrats to travel quickly for darshan, cutting down road movement by 50 km.

@Thiruprakashcb @TrichyCorp So there also buses will be parked on roads, commuters like you will say, I cannot waste time travelling there, keep buses in Chathiram and Central, what's the point? Why waste public money.

Changing bus routes and removing encroachments are on cards after the #TOI story about Chathiram bus stand chaos. But the only solution is to shift mofussil.buses to Panjapur KKBT. #Trichy Collector inspected & reviewed with officials based on the article that mentioned 5 woes.

@Thiruprakashcb @TrichyCorp Procure land ah? Where in Chathiram bus stand do you have land to buy for halting buses, do you have any idea about the land cost there now? and got any idea about legal hurdles in land acquisition? Why build an integrated bus terminus then?

@dkarthikTOI SHIFTING BUS STANDS IS THE WORST IDEA! PROCURE LAND AND WIDEN THE ROADS, GIVE A PEDESTRIAL FRIENDLY CITY, ONLY THEN PEOPLE WILL BE HAPPY TO GET DOWN AT BUS STOPS AND WALK! IF ITS IS NOT WALKABLE THEY GET DOWN ANYWHERE FOR THEIR CONVIENIENCE. @TrichyCorp

#Trichy Railway Junction to get 6 new escalators by end of June 2026. While existing escalators are not much of use to people, turned off on multiple ocassions, DRM said that deployment of workers to assist passengers will be considered for the optimal use of escalators. Trichy division has won 8 awards in the 71st Railway Week Celebrations of Southern Railway. @timesofindia @DRMTPJ

‘Centre holds up TN’s successful tribal development model as example for all states’ Tamil Nadu has been ranked as the best-performing state in the country, while Kallakurichi district has been recognised as the best-performing district at the all-India level for implementing the Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP) by the Union ministry. The recognition was announced at a tribal development conclave held in New Delhi, where the performance of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) and programmes across states was assessed. Tamil Nadu implements its ITDP strategy across nine designated areas spread over seven districts with a significant Scheduled Tribe population. “Tamil Nadu has been ranked as the best state and highlighted as a model for others to emulate. Across parameters including administrative efficiency, scheme coordination, data management, protection of tribal rights, livelihood enhancement, institutional capacity, risk management and project implementation, Tamil Nadu scored highly. It was also designated as a ‘Data-Driven Tribal Mission Unit’,” director of tribal welfare S Annadurai said. Meanwhile, Kallakurichi district was given the ‘Best Performing ITDP/ITDA’ in the country and was awarded a cash prize of ₹5 lakh by the Union ministry at the conclave hosted by the Union ministry of tribal affairs in New Delhi. Officials attributed the achievement to a series of initiatives undertaken in tribal areas, particularly in the Kalvarayan Hills. “In Kallakurichi, students have achieved notable success in higher education and entrance examinations over the past few years. Several pioneering initiatives have also been implemented, including boosting tapioca production and establishing value-addition units in the Kalvarayan Hills; setting up solar-powered millet processing units for tribal women's self-help groups; providing skill development training to tribal youth and facilitating their employment in leading companies; forming horticultural producer groups for tribal farmers; and securing land rights by issuing 9,547 forest rights titles under the Forest Rights Act,” the department said. In recent years, tribal students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and other institutions have excelled academically, with many cracking competitive examinations and securing admission to premier institutes across the country. So far this year, two students have cleared the CLAT and secured admission — one to a National Law University and another to a law university in Haryana. Apart from this, 48 tribal students have joined the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Noida, this year, compared to 11 last year. IITTM is an institution functioning under the Union ministry. @VanniTamizhVCK @thirumaofficial @WriterRavikumar @CMOTamilnadu
