What is DMSO and what is the DMSO 3070 blend? DMSO, dimethyl sulfoxide, is a solvent with many different applications. Our 3070 blend uses castor oil to dilute pure DMSO. Castor oil is unique because it's one of the very few oils that can actually mix with DMSO — most oils can't. DMSO can also be effectively diluted in water. If you're unfamiliar with DMSO and its uses, we recommend doing some research — there's a wealth of information and an active community out there. Important: DMSO should always be handled with care as it can penetrate skin and carry other substances with it.

@drchrisbaker DMSO is hygroscopic - it readily absorbs water from the environment, including directly from the air. The strong hydrogen bonds that form greatly reduce the freezing point of the blend.

For you DMSO users, I just learned this from Ben at DMSOdirect. Really interesting to know that pure liquid DMSO can start to crystallize below 65°F! And it’s no problem. Once you get them into the house at 70° and above, the crystals will defrost. But notice, the 70% DMSO gels and creams are OK with the lower temperatures without crystallizing. Just good to know! A lot of people misunderstand DMSO and think it has the ability to transport anything it touches. It's important, however, to consider 'solubility' ⬇️

WHAT DMSO CAN'T DO DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) is a powerful solvent, but it can't dissolve everything! And what it can't dissolve - it can't carry. Each substance DMSO can dissolve will have a limit - this is called solubility. The amount of something you want to dissolve (or carry) must stay within those limits.

Hello, and thank you for your interest. Our 3070 blend is specifically formulated for use as a solvent. Water and alcohol are also solvents — they dissolve things, mix substances together, and are commonly used for cleaning. Solvents have many applications and DMSO is no different. If you don't know how to use it, there is a wealth of information available online and many books have been written about it.

@pandu108h DMSO would dissolve a rubber bulb. We carefully select all of the materials that DMSO comes in contact with. We only buy bulbs made from silicone. The plastic part of our cap is polypropylene.
