As an OB-GYN currently practicing in Texas, the quality medical care I provide did not change after Texas enacted its pro-life law. Nor has the law prevented me from caring for my patients in emergencies. Don't be fooled by misinformation.

As we predicted, pro-life laws aren't worsening maternal mortality. Abortion isn't the solution to this devastating problem. If we're serious about tackling this tragic situation, we must address the root issues, which include our chronic illness and mental health epidemics, and family breakdown leading to single mothers living in poverty.

4 years ago, I examined photos of the DC 5. Though we may not know exactly how each baby died, given the DC medical examiner’s decision not to perform autopsies, we know these precious babies suffered excruciatingly painful deaths. It’s hard to look at their photos, but they represent a very real problem in the US. washingtontimes.com/news/2022/apr/…

It is heartbreaking to see the abortion industry’s complete disregard for the safety of women and girls. The FDA’s recent REMS changes allowed this. This needs to stop!

Abortion advocates who blame pro-life laws for maternal mortality rates are more interested in ideological fights than the evidence-based solutions women and their families deserve. We should be advancing quality obstetric care for mothers and improving women’s prenatal physical and mental health so that no family has to face the devastation of losing a mother during childbirth.

There are many complex factors that may contribute to U.S. maternal mortality: access to health care, chronic illnesses, substance abuse disorder, etc. There isn’t a causal link between pro-life laws and increased maternal mortality. More⬇️
