Britain is building a culture where people think they can do what they like and nothing will happen. All too often, they’re right. Crime, disorder and welfare dependency all point to the same problem: a country where rules exist, but no consequences follow. We must change this.

@KemiBadenoch The more you repeat this lie the more voters you’ll lose. You don’t seem to appreciate that most people want a government with integrity and honesty. So you’re shooting yourself in the foot!

Starmer wanted to surrender British sovereignty. We said no. And Britain is much safer for it.

Keir Starmer spent decades in courtrooms defending everyone except the British national interest, and now the UN is on his doorstep.  Conservatives fought this outrageous surrender of British sovereign territory which has led to his Chagos vanity project now destined for the bin. Conservatives will always put our country first. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

Labour's Chagos Surrender Deal would have put British national security at risk, undermined our defences and cost British taxpayers £35bn. We fought this unnecessary surrender of British sovereign territory every step of the way and it's thanks to the hard work of the Conservatives that this reckless and costly deal has now been scrapped. The Chagos Surrender was Keir Starmer's number one foreign policy priority as he travelled the world waving the white flag. But he has undermined our standing in the world and has once again been left humiliated. It's only the Conservatives who are committed to keeping Chagos British and defending our national interests. While Keir Starmer wanted to surrender the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, Reform pledged to give them to the Maldives. thetimes.com/article/31f7b7…

The Chagos deal is dead and good riddance. It was a strategic blunder from the start by this Labour government and a disaster waiting to happen. Many of us warned the government but they simply refused to listen, now they will have to make another humiliating U-turn. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/… Perhaps those close to the government who made very tidy sums promoting this disastrous deal might now consider donating some of those earnings to the Chagossian people whose interests were so often overlooked in the process.

If Keir Starmer’s Chagos surrender now finds its rightful place - on the ash heap of history - it will be because Conservatives led the fight against it from day one. That it took so long is another damning indictment of a prime minister, who fought to hand over British sovereign territory and pay £35 billion to use a crucial military base which was already ours. Unlike Labour, we will always put our country first. We are the only party who can be trusted to stand up for Britain’s interests abroad.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

EXCLUSIVE Sir Keir Starmer has been forced to drop legislation which would cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius in a further deterioration of relations with Donald Trump The Times has been told that a bill underpinning the controversial deal will not be included in the King's Speech next month after the US president branded it an "act of great stupidity" and withdrew his support The government stands by the deal and will attempt to persuade Trump to change his mind but has acknowledged that it cannot proceed without his backing Ministers are "deeply frustrated" with Trump, who initially supported the deal after extensive discussions between intelligence agencies but changed his mind during a dispute with Nato over plans to seize Greenland The government believes that it puts the future of Diego Garcia, the UK-US base in the islands which has been used during the Iran war, at risk It is concerned that Mauritius will mount a legal challenge granting it access to the waters around Diego Garcia, making it harder for the base to host nuclear submarines and patrol surrounding waters The deal was highly contentious. It would have seen Britain hand over the islands to Mauritius before immediately entering into a 99-year lease for Diego Garcia. The government claimed it would cost £3.5billion, although the Tories disputed this and said it would cost £35billion his over its lifetime. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

There's a contractor at my house today and he's driving an EV. Dude parks at the end of my driveway and runs an extension cord from an external outlet on my house and he's been charging his car this whole time. Am I wrong that this is bothering me?

Kier Starmer has made himself an irrelevance on the world stage. What is going to offer to put on the table or threaten to take off the table to influence this situation? What’s his diplomatic or military currency? What’s his leverage? What’s the point of his trip?

@VividProwess You don’t have much of an alliance if you don’t tell your allies what your objectives are, don’t try to seek their agreement, & then make it very obvious you haven’t got a clue what your objectives are from one week to the next.

Trump didn’t ask #Starmer to join a war. He asked for permission to refuel and re-arm US aircraft at RAF bases. Starmer said “NO” Then Starmer said “YES” after just 2 days with a feeble excuse for his U-turn.
