These slides from the excellent @lugaricano are a must read for any European policymaker who seriously wants their country to thrive as AI advances.
We urgently need to ensure that our economy is ready to take advantage of AI or we will be left behind. In a rapidly changing and uncertain world, the only way to ensure security is to ensure that we have the means to pay for it.

I would add one point: if AI develops to a point where it is a ‘gross substitute’ for human labour (elasticity of substitution > 1), the human labour share of GDP may shrink. At that point there is no reason to assume that GDPs per capita in developed countries will cluster as they have. Being left behind could mean being left very far behind indeed.

Something that people making AI economics predictions should take into account is that 1) current AI use is heavily subsidized, 2) demand for smart, compute-heavy models is exploding w/ few price signals to discipline use, 3) we will be hitting serious compute constraints soon.
Translation: We have been living through a period of abundant AI; get ready for the age of compute scarcity. There will be more rationing, multi-tiered markets, new token allocation infrastructure, etc.

No, es igual que los peores exponentes de esa organización. 2. Cree que la gente es tonta. Y de hecho, quienes le creen LO SON. No seas farsante, Pabel. La Viceministra de Cultura, Romina Muñoz, desmintió al alcalde de Quito respecto a que las reformas vigentes al COOTAD eliminaron el presupuesto destinado a la Feria Internacional del Libro. De hecho, el gobierno le transfiere al municipio capitalino $90 millones anuales para Cultura y no rinde cuentas. Por su parte, el Ministerio de @Educacion_Ec anunció que sí habrá Feria, organizada por el gobierno.

Una ciudad que pierde estos espacios, pierde parte de su esencia. ¡Le debemos tanto a la capital!
