@shanerostad OK cool - may reach out with one of our PMs just to jam live for 10m. The grouping is really important and we haven't quite nailed it

@drewmarc yea from my POV just having some basic default options of "group by Product Type" or "group by Product title" or "Group by SKU" would probably cover a lot of use cases for small-mid size catalogues

TBPN has been acquired by OpenAI! The show is staying the same and we’ll continue to go live at 11am pacific every weekday. This is a full circle moment for me as I’ve worked with @sama for well over a decade. He funded my first company in 2013. Then helped us fix a serious logjam during a critical funding round a few years later. When I took my second company through YC, he was president at the time, and then when I joined Founders Fund, the first deal I saw in motion was the post-ChatGPT round in late 2022. And as we started growing TBPN last year, he was the very first lab lead to join the show. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of TBPN until now. The last year has been the most fun and rewarding part of my career and we’re excited to have more resources than ever going forward.

Important announcement: In lieu of recent developments, we are no longer doing AB testing Instead, we'll be encouraging merchants to make decisions based on vibes and vibes alone. For instance, if previously you would have tested product prices against higher and lower variants to determine your price elasticity, we'd encourage you to guess instead, or perhaps flip a coin. If you have any questions, we'd ask that you don't. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Ahhh I see. yeah I'd love to have these groups auto-populated, we've been trying to see if an llm can do a decent job of grouping them for you but for now it's static if you scroll down a bit, you'll get to the raw by-product table and you can expand that. But i think you're saying you want a grouped version of this (looks like you have it grouped by scent)?

@shanerostad yah we released some improvements on it on like march 4th so it should work better now (And be easier to manage changes if you want to hard code some stuff) but lmk if you run into more issues with it / have other stuff you want to do!

@drewmarc I don't - it's been a while since I tried to set up and in the past that feature just didn't really work. But I'll try it now!

You can ask about where visitors are going; where they're coming from; what they're buying; how they are converting; where they drop off; etc. etc. If there's something you want that's *not* in here, just let us know Here are a few outputs we saw from the first day live

Heard from a bunch of folks that it was a pain to get their site data hooked into Claude. They wanted to use it for test ideas, scorecards, etc. We just added our sitewide analytics feature to our MCP server. Super powerful and WAY easier to use than GA4 or shopify analytics

@DaveDiederen wow - knew this worked but didn't expect that big an impact how did you run the test? CSS injection? I wonder if there are any personalization opportunities where it'd make sense to make it even bigger for some segments

By far the most interesting and underutilised test I've run in a long time. Making fonts 5% bigger. Here's why it worked. Most Shopify stores are built by young designers on Retina MacBooks. The font looks clean. Minimal. Intentional. But their customer is 45-55, shopping on an older phone, in average lighting, after a long day. That 12px body copy? It's exhausting to read. And when reading feels hard, buying feels hard. One of the most boring-sounding tests I've ever done. The real lesson isn't "make fonts bigger." It's that your store was designed for you, not your customer. Readability is a conversion lever. Almost nobody treats it like one. Check your mobile body copy size right now. If it's under 16px, you're making your customer work harder than you need to.

@MehtabKarta My hunch is that the platforms aren’t super incentivized to make it easier since they currently get the surplus from pricing dynamically (through stuff like service fees that vary)

Do restaurants not price test much? I’m always surprised restaurants are hard to book, you’d think they’d just…increase weekend pricing or something.
