AMA is advocating for the following changes to USMLE Step 3:
1) Changing the USMLE Step 3 and COMLEX-USA Level 3 from a numerically scored examination to a pass-fail examination.
2) Changing USMLE Step 3 and COMLEX-USA Level 3 from a two-day examination to a one-day examination.
3) The option to take USMLE Step 3 after passing Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK), or take COMLEX-USA Level 3 after passing Level 2-Cognitive Evaluation (CE) during medical school.
4) Residents taking the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX-USA Level 3 exam be allowed days off to take the exam without having this time counted for paid time off or vacation balance

📝A review of peripheral pulmonary lesion sampling. CT-TBNA had the highest diagnostic yield (88.9%) but significant risk of complications. RAB had a similar diagnostic yield (84.8%) but reduced complications. Standard flexible bronchoscopy and rEBUS had the lowest diagnostic yield.

🚨With 363 studies included in this meta-analysis, it is the largest study till date in this area (1/5)
(5/5) Although CT-TBNA is the most effective approach to sample PPLs, RAB has a comparable diagnostic yield with a lesser complication rate. Further prospective studies are needed comparing CT-TBNA and RAB.
Just published in Critical Care! Our multicenter, retrospective study evaluates the impact of low-dose inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) in COVID-19 patients needing respiratory support. Findings suggest iNO may improve oxygenation and reduce mortality in spontaneously breathing patients but comes with increased risk of kidney injury.
