@nathandowning @editingmae I work mostly in commercials and generally have a lot of say who the music house/composer is. I always favor the people who actually present the track as they want it rather than send me a link of 30 tracks where they're just throwing stuff against the wall.

Question - workflow with composers. I was expecting to receive one track with timed out compositions that go along with my cut that I could plug in, but instead got a ‘that’s not my job’ response and a number of music tracks I had to plug in/edit/mix myself. Is that right?

@brianlevin83 Yeah I thought it was odd too. Creatively, I would’ve expected the composer to want more control over where things start and stop

@editingmae That's super odd. I would have a conversation with the composer, preferably over video instead of email to make sure you are both on the same page. The only music cue I've ever ended on my own is fading out an end credits cue early. Cues in the show should be timed to the show.

@editingmae The cue sheet may have time code that indicates the start of the file or it may indicate the start of the music waveforms, ran into this issue last year where we weren’t sure what the time codes referred to, but we got it sorted out with a quick conversation.

@nathandowning It’s for a 12 minute short film with about 6 compositions. I don’t know, I figured if they have specific beats they want to hit - they’re the better person to mix their own stuff. The cue sheet I received was very vague
