@SecRollins Weren’t you on earlier this winter telling us fertilizer prices are going to go down? Why should we book high priced fertilizer when we are told it’s going down and now you tell us that fertilizer prices have jumped but it’s ok because it’s mostly booked.

The conflict in the Middle East has led to a temporary disruption in global energy and fertilizer markets. Thankfully our farmers and families are staying ahead of the curve. While the vast majority of American farmers have already locked in their fertilizer for the 2026 growing season, we’re also looking out for those who haven’t. We’ve temporarily waived the Jones Act, opened up fertilizer exports from Venezuela, and keeping every option on the table to keep supplies stable and costs under control. On the food side, prices in many categories have actually fallen over the past year, and those downward trends are continuing as we rebalance global trade and open new markets for American agriculture. We’re protecting the food supply. We’re strengthening our markets. Farm security is national security! 🇺🇸

@BobGunzy That’s exactly what we see on large scale. Most of the Mg outside of a pocket in Mo, shows the lower the base sat the better the tissue down to about 8% and when you get above 20% the mg is locked tight.

@mocornfarmer I have been using it for a few years. I don’t use it as much as I should and some of the application data I wish could be tweaked a little for manual input on a batch level but it’s a great way to get your numbers right if you take the time to put it all in.

@JasonSchley So if carbon needs to be our focus should we be using our WEOC/CEC score to help determine what our yield goal should be and build a fertility program from there?

This is not talked about enough in ag production. I feel if people know the truth we will focus on the things that can make an impact. The subject line is much deeper than what I recorded but want to get people to think outside the box without confusion. These are facts. Dig deeper, we can’t afford not to focus on carbon. If you want to call me out go ahead, but the industry isn’t telling the truth to be efficient in what we all risk it all for. And this is the truth.
Jason Schley@JasonSchley

Let’s try this, nitrogen management is deeper than most think about in my opinion. Not posting this to argue. Posting this, to help you think deeper about what your nitrogen dollars are capable of.

@JasonSchley I noticed corn with higher N rates had some higher yield but corn was going down more with more root issues than lower rates.

How many of you have seen this happen on your farm or a farm you work with? Higher applied rates of N vs less N in the same field. And the higher N showed higher disease pressure. When I showed that this summer I had a few guys reach out saying they had seen similar results.

@_TheMizzouTiger I want to be big enough to be able to support the labor that allows us to operate efficiently during the busy time with the higher value equipment but small enough that I’m still in the field operating the equipment so I know it gets done how I want it.

@Dusty3080467325 I wish we could get back to the days of having an owner of a company with their name on it, not stockholders that can tank a company from a bad run and pricing of products isn’t the logical value but it’s the price they need to reach targets.

This ole girl needs a complete rebuild over winter. It’s the equivalent of a Case 500t. Any recommendations on aftermarket parts that would make it operate better? No complaints from the stock parts but it needs opening blades, boots, gauge wheels, and some closing wheels. So if there’s nicer aftermarket things we can do it, I suppose now would be the time

@itsmetoo92774 @twotthree64 @MI_beef @ThinkethSo @BradyD78 I would be more than happy to employ a workforce that will allow us all to only work 40hrs a week every week but if I’m going to do that then I want to be able to tell you what my product is worth and I don’t think you’ll like that answer.

@twotthree64 @MI_beef @ThinkethSo @BradyD78 And there is the problem, your not looking for a full time employee when expecting them to work 80 hours a week. I know many young people that want to do farm work but not for the large operations that are the very reason they can't get their own ground to farm.

I’m probably in the minority, but this stuff gets me excited about the future! *Why wouldn’t I want this robot planting wheat while I'm harvesting soybeans? *Why wouldn’t I want him drilling soybeans while I’m planting corn? *Why wouldn’t I want him double cropping soybeans while I’m harvesting wheat? *Why wouldn’t I want him planting sorghum sudan hay grazer while I’m baling hay?

@BobGunzy Higher pay doesn’t equal better help. You can pay an operator twice as much but it doesn’t make him twice as good of an operator.

Guy at lunch yesterday said he was offered a combine operator job (16 row cornhead combine) for $17/hr. It’s a $500k+ machine harvesting 3K+ bu/hr ($11k/hr revenue) but you’d let it sit b/c you’re offering line cook-level wages? 🧐

@Bkitch1Bodie I’m the same way. Would it help? Yes. Is it necessary? No. Is it the right thing to do? Sort of. I would prefer the government be removed for ag but that includes reporting and all of the USDA that manages supply and demand or market control.

I know I’m in my bubble but I’m gonna say it anyway. There is not a farmer I’ve talked to that has said man I sure hope we get emergency aid or I have to have it or begging for it. Just like anything the media wants to control the narrative. And they are finding willing actors

@Bkitch1Bodie @clintwfischer We get lunch brought to the field but not dinner. My wife used to bring dinner after we had our first kid and after all the work she put into it we would seem to breakdown and be home early so my superstitious tendencies got to me and I swore off dinner in the field. All better

@Dusty3080467325 @LineRed8039 I’m all for pushing for cheap seed and saving money but it’s not a fair comparison the $300 to $125. If I remember right isn’t the $125 your non-gmo. Becks non-gmo is usually around $100 less than traited.

@Bkitch1Bodie The problem is there’s really no chance we will run out of corn in the US this year or next and the futures doesn’t have to do anything to curb demand. Basis will move the bushels where they are needed and when and that’s not happening here yet at all.

@speerman42 In my opinion crop insurance subsidies have caused this. The large input suppliers can easily calculate exactly how much they can charge and what piece of the pie they want without putting someone under. If there was no floor would help pricing competition but it’s too late now.

I fully understand the no subsidy in ag line of thinking. But can we talk about how a new combine is a million dollars. How chemical and fertilizer companies have brought very little new to the table in the last 20 years but continue to go up in price. At least on seed I can
