@riley_sides But when it came to immigration Massie was closer to Biden than Trump and Gallrein took advantage of that, pointing out Massie's attempts to defund Border Patrol.
You can't be soft on immigration in 2026 and win republican tickets.
English

@ThinkethSo I’m not a massie loyalist, Make fun of him quite often, but the other guy was equivalent to Joe Biden🤣
English

@brim006 @bennyjohnson It's a sanctuary city thanks to Sheriff Leo Dutton
English

@bennyjohnson Haha holy shit he thinks Helena is based when this part of the country sees it as liberal
English

@americaunwon On top of that, you have people like Musk and (i think) Altman saying how AGI is going to spell the doom of humanity while simultaneously saying we must pursue it at all cost.
It's just a lot of water muddying and hype, and the vagueness adds to the mystery and allure.

While I'm not explicitly disagreeing, I ask the question, How do we win the AI Race? What is the finish line?
With the Space Race, it was getting a man in space, then on the moon.
But as it is with all things AI and Data Center related, this Race lacks definition and clarity.
UNWON | Keely Covello@americaunwon
On data centers... America must win the AI race against China. That's very important. But we have to balance that with protecting our natural resources and working lands.
English

@americaunwon Alot of the environmental and infrastructure impact statements are incomplete because how much water or power is used is considered a "trade secret" in a lot of cases.
English

@americaunwon Alot of the land is purchased, and facilities built under shell companies and the actual owners are unknown. Many of them are done with local governments signing NDAs and therefore the public doesn't know who actually owns it, or what it is used for (AI cat videos or espionage?)
English

@sovernTranch @Korteacres And there's weeds like lupine, larkspur, and death camas which cows do eat, but shouldn't
English

@Korteacres Cows love weeds…
For the life of me, I can’t figure out why people spray to get rid of them
English

@sovernTranch @Korteacres There are a lot of weeds that cows won't eat, but they eat the grass around them, opening up the canopy for more of the weeds they won't eat. Eventually you get to a point where there's nothing for the cows to eat. You see this with thistle, sulfur cinquefoil, houndstongue, etc
English

@w_forw That's an interesting thought. I'm not even sure what a feedback loop for AI would look like
English

@ThinkethSo There is no feedback loop to ai to control production.
Bitcoin has the difficulty adjustment to control production in contrast.
English

@caseymurph1 I actually don't know. It's just very interesting that they seem to fall into disarray so quickly. I don't think that would be the case if they were actually profitable and sustainable.
To me, it shows that the money is in the construction of the sites, not the operation of them
English

@ThinkethSo What do you think may happen with it Oliver? Will it be decommissioned?
English

There aren't many solar farms in Montana, but the small one at Reed Point is starting to all fall down and does not look maintained.
@caseymurph1
English

@SmiejaTrevor @caseymurph1 Haha, I hadn't thought of that! Pretty dumb. I wonder what the point of that project was
English

@ThinkethSo @caseymurph1 Why anyone put that on a northeast facing slope behind a hill is beyond me too!🤦

@western_bester Pretty radicalizing to fly to a foreign country, drive 6 hours to the end of the road, get lost looking for a small riverfront town, travel 4 hours upriver in a canoe, pushing it by hand and wading in the river… and then still find something that your tax dollars paid for
English

@americaunwon Half the problem with the whole conversation is that it lacks specificity.
It needs to be addressed on a per facility basis, and it's particular purpose, use, and owner brought into question, and not just thrown under the umbrella "data center"
English

@trentloos I believe it's the same reason why there is a housing construction boom here in Montana, yet 20% of the homes in the state are empty.

I hope the Checkoff doesn’t sue USDA for promoting “American Beef”.
What a unique concept.
Dept. of Agriculture@USDA
May is National Beef Month, and there's no better time to celebrate the hardworking ranchers across the nation! When you choose American beef, you’re choosing quality, integrity, and premium standards. 🇺🇸
English

@americaunwon Perhaps, but they aren't doing themselves any favors by how they're going about it.
In my opinion, data centers are the new Tulip Mania.
English

Is it possible the data center alarmism is the result of fearmongering not based in reality
The Washington Post@washingtonpost
A Gallup poll found that seven out of 10 Americans said they would oppose a data center being built near them. Opposition is so intense, the poll found, that more Americans would rather live near a nuclear power plant than a data center. wapo.st/48ZtSpE
