Two rounds to go in Prague International Chess Festival Masters and the simulations are getting sharp. #JordanVanForeest is now the clear front runner with a 52.24% outright win chance. #NodirbekAbdusattorov is next on 27.65%, with #DavidNavara still in the fight on 19.08%. #PICF2026

It'd be fantastic to have this kind of piece about the effect NNUE engines have had in Chess Life. DMs are open, GMs and engine experts! technologyreview.com/2026/02/27/113…

From one of the recent tournaments. What is the most effective way for Black to crush White position?

584 moves with just 8 of 32 pieces on the board! Further evidence that not only will chess never be solved, but that should such miraculous technology ever appear, the results will be practically meaningless for human players. An impressive feat nonetheless.

It's the following position: White wins in 584 moves. The winning move is unique. Interestingly, Stockfish 18 finds the correct move, but only gives +0.7

@durarbayli Probably, that is why. Otherwise, you would have seen it. I believe it has a lot to do with the disappearance of Kan/Paulsen from the higher-tier tournament games. I yearn to play 960.

@eli_1985_mor For me it was a new move. To be fair I have not spent much time on this line.

New chess wisdom : take your queen out as soon as you can! Li Di played this against the Paulsen. And won convincingly. Engine's top line? Black should play d5 and accept an isolated pawn.

@Bayesprof @askavrukh Just search through your Mega DB for games of +2500 average, and at least 100 games will pop out, all having good qualities.

@eli_1985_mor @askavrukh Yes I was well aware of h4 being a theme from alpha zero. But I hadn’t seen that in London system/qgd. Do u know of some famous games in this.
