The reason why many Japanese don’t directly address the “why won’t you just sell me something so I don’t pirate” issue and only respond with “piracy is bad” is because they quietly want Japanese things to stay Japanese only. Japanese people, as a rule, are not direct in speech.

@Wiisis @DledoU6 They pirate because they feel entitled to other people's creative output. They're not. Artists owe them nothing. They are not being denied food or air. Video games are not a human right. They can go do something else that doesn't spit in the face of people they claim to respect.

Everything has to be at a price YOU approve of, available through a method convenient to YOU, or you are somehow justfiied in stealing? That is not how the world works. It is not about you. ねぇ、日本の皆さん こういう、「white culture (白人文化)」という言葉を使う人が出たら、無視するべきです。白人文化なんてないですよ。ただアメリカのナンセンスです。白人だからアイルランド文化とオランダ文化などを同じくすることは本当に馬鹿しかしないから、話すことを聞く必要はないです。

If you think "I'm justified in stealing from creators as long as I sometimes compensate them when it's convenient to me, if I am suitably impressed" is a logical defense, I don't think there is any saving you. 海外のメンタリティーは此処しばらくの議論見ててなんとなくわかった。 儲けのそのほとんどを出資者や配信するプラットフォームの運営が搾取してしまって、クリエイターに届かないと言うのを嫌っていることを。 まぁだからって海賊版利用して著作者に報酬を支払わないことの言い訳にはならんが。

@elyperish @extremaratio69 If I ever produce something someday that inspires someone like the fragrant flower has inspired me, then I would gladly take less money. That's my own feelings though, If Saka Mikami wants my head on a stick for reading pirated copies, they are well within their rights.

The pirates stopped uploading when it was released on the kodansha app. I then bought all the chapters on the app as well as continue to buy the physical books as they release. If that isn't enough for paid consumption, I don't know what is

@DeaTweetAccount @nanasamib “They won’t be paid more anyway” doesn’t change anything about rights or permission. Finished work isn’t automatically public access. If the model is bad, fix the model, that doesn’t mean "stealing is okay because I want to watch cartoons."

@elyperish @nanasamib I did not tie them in a basement and whipped them until they gave me the work. The work was done and paid for by the company. If the business model of the company is dumb, you can gorge my foreing eyes out to stop me from enjoying the work: they won't be paid more.

@Kiserino_DOOT @extremaratio69 Making the legal option better is important, sure. But when it isn’t, the conclusion should be “fix the system,” not “stealing is okay because I find the current system inconveniencing to me, personally.” Those are separate issues.

@elyperish @extremaratio69 Make the legal way the best way to get the product, whatever the product may be. It won't eradicate all bad actors, but those who aren't will choose the correct, legal way.

@elyperish @extremaratio69 Other services are available, they are just illegal. Laws exist for a reason, but if there is a market the legal system in place isn't equipped to supply, the demand goes to other chefs with illegal means of distribution. That's what most people are trying to get across.

@IzzieDash @Nycazael There is no "need" to pirate. It is not an access issue. It is an entitlement issue. People think they are entitled, OWED access to an artist's work, if they can't get it on their own terms they are justified in stealing it. They aren't being denied a human right.

Vejo muita briga contra os japoneses, mas o pior é que a gente não larga a mão de querer justificar o injustificável. E olha o quão irônico é eu dizer isso, sendo alguém que ama pirataria. O Japão fala que pirataria é ruim de uma posição privilegiada? Sim. Mas, ao invés de entender como eles construíram essa estrutura para chegar lá, a gente justifica o roubo para não ter que encarar nossos próprios problemas. Aceitamos a pirataria porque somos bobos em confiar em governos ruins que tornam tudo inacessível. Parem de ser bobos e achar que o mundo tem que virar um local que aceita a pirataria, longe disso o mundo tem que ser um local onde eu ou você podemos comprar jogos com menos de 5% do nosso salário...

@Kiserino_DOOT @extremaratio69 Copyrighted distribution isn’t just a “choose another service” system. Criticizing the system is fair, but stealing is still illegal. You aren't getting any service. You're running in and stealing and then running away and wondering why the chef is mad at you.

@elyperish @extremaratio69 I just said it doesn't justify it. We should pay authors, not pirates. I agree with you that no one is entitled to someone's work, but to solve an issue one must look at the root cause. If a restaurant has good food but bad service, do you go back or go somewhere else?
