@DJSnM Due to snow melt or just delayed flood waters? It was atrocious last week. But welcome to Washington

I did get to visit Blue Origin yesterday, I didn’t get to take pictures beyond the lobby, but I saw the rocket factory full of hardware. Multiple GS-2 builds, and a booster fore and aft sections being kitted out. They’re going to be able to launch a lot once booster reuse gets going. Of course, I really wanted to know what HLS plans are, but all they’d let me know was how hard they’re working.

Artemis II has reached its maximum distance from Earth. On the far side of the Moon, 252,756 miles away, Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy have now traveled farther from Earth than any humans in history and now begin their journey home. Before they left, they said they hoped this mission would be forgotten, but it will be remembered as the moment people started to believe that America can once again do the near-impossible and change the world. Congratulations to this incredible crew and the entire NASA team, our international and commercial partners, but this mission isn’t over until they’re under safe parachutes, splashing down into the Pacific.

Adjusting the pitch of the spacecraft to get better photos of the moon is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hear on this livestream of the flyby. They're making documenting this trip a high priority. Amazing photos are coming and I am absolutely giddy.

A new milestone for humankind: The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth. This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.

@DimaZeniuk And innovative Ideas are the catalyst that empowers engineers to turn the impossible into reality, for without visionary ideas, engineers would be plagued by historical tunnel vision… 11,738,890 see allowed claims and priority date

The first SpaceX Supersonic Retropropulsion in September of 2013 proved rocket recovery options were possible. My long held ideas of Catching or Stabilizing propulsively Landing rocket stages on hooks or reinforced bases were viable but all focus was on leg recovery. So in 2015 my sons and I filed our 1st patent application
grant!!!@GrantObi

Actually, nobody knew if supersonic retropropulsion was possible. NASA had a whole program set up to start testing it, specifically for Mars environments. Anyway, SpaceX just went ahead and tried it on a mission, it worked, the rest is history.
