The challenge of having an adult conversation on many topics is that all known and unknown aspects of physics and psychology are constantly at play. No human time frame is sufficient to address these matters honestly and thoroughly.

@reem_a please tell the company heads to stop talking about how ai is going to render everyone’s jobs worthless and instead talk about how it will help you do the things you want to do your leaders are really annoying

I'm hiring someone to join my team at Anthropic to lead Claude Code comms. This is not a role for someone who wants to run an old playbook. You'll need to be a Claude Code super user, understand developers and dev tools, and have great taste. You'll work hard, learn a lot, and ship with the best people around. Non-traditional comms paths welcome. My DMs are open!

Tesla is not a startup anymore and people are too dumb to distinguish between Autopilot and FSD. We are getting dumber and no one reads manuals. I agree with Gary. Im flirting with the idea that Autopilot should not be a thing in a vehicle capable of FSD. Cruse control runs through the FSD stack and if you havent paid for FSD then the vehicle pulls over as soon as safe and driver takes over. Someone's lack of a subscriptions should not result in one software rug pulling you 4 secs before a crash if another better software is readily available.
Gary Black@garyblack00

There’s no question in my mind FSD (or autopilot) was turned off at the time of the crash. That’s not the point: $TSLA needs to think longer term and invest in a 1-2 person PR team to squash mistaken commentary by the media like this. TSLA’s inability to control the narrative is again hurting the company’s brand and reputation for safety, which will be critical as it tries to secure regulatory approvals to launch fully autonomous Cybercabs with no steering wheel or pedals later this year. Why put a timely launch of Cybercab at risk to save a few dollars?

@HarmlessYardDog The best part is right after COVID every other article was talking about learning this lesson from the lockdowns and the need to assume more control over our manufacturing and gain independence from this very supply chain.....and then they made absolutely zero changes.

@TeslaAndDoge The thing is is Trump is normal. The "hard" working class people (where im from) act the exact same way, they just not rich. Seems as if there's a connection with people who work outside year round have a better connection to reality then most.

@ChadMoran Not defending blindly but it was Autopilot (cruse control with extra steps) the autopilot branding by itself may have been fine but when the tesla brand is known for driving themselves (FSD) its easy to assume people will often confuse the two. No one reads manuals.

Here's the original video, which looks like it's actual speed. I used two markers and consistently measured it. It took 75 frames in a 30 FPS video to travel 212.63 ft equating to 57.9 MPH (probably 60). The incident occurred in August of 2025. These are just facts. Yes the driver should have intervened sooner. Yes, FSD was approaching way too fast.

I normally don't bother armchair quarterbacking these situations. But watching the Tesla Stans come into the comments is funny. Elon said Autopilot (FSD?) was disengaged 4s before the impact which if you watch the video looks like it was going way too fast at that point. Am I missing something?
