With the proposed constitutional amendment to raise the strength of the Lok Sabha from the present cap of 550 to around 850, the revised figure is likely to become a new constitutional ceiling. Just as the earlier cap of 552 (effectively 550 after the 104th Constitutional Amendment Act removed Anglo-Indian nominations) persisted for decades, the proposed 850 is also expected to function as a stable, long-term upper limit, making further revisions in the near future UNLIKELY. Additionally, the new Parliament building, with a Lok Sabha seating capacity of 888, appears to be designed in line with this proposed expansion.

We welcome the Women’s Reservation Bill. Biju Babu was a strong votary of women’s empowerment, pioneering reservation in legislative bodies and entrusting power to women. @bjd_odisha has always championed women’s representation, ensuring their presence in Parliament and State Assemblies.
