Let me start by saying, I have absolutely no issues with players prioritising one format over another. And more importantly, country over franchise. It is their life and career and they have absolutely every right to progress it in the direction they think it best suits them and their families.
But what is absolutely unacceptable is registering for the auction, getting picked and then deciding their international career is more important or in some cases as they decide to just show up late and play part of the season. The timing of this decision only makes it worse but pulling out at any time after being picked and the squad is built is terrible.
It impacts the franchise in more ways than one but it also impacts the fans.
The penalty in the form of a ban (in the IPL) is too weak. Nowadays when so many T20 leagues offer avenues for cricketers to make money. Let's just take Harry Brook as an example - Pulled out in similar fashion and for the same reason, got banned, only to be given a massive payday by Sunrisers Leeds.

@NoContextCounty If you’re employed, which I doubt given that -ve IQ tweet, you’d know about serving a notice period to ensure a smooth transition. Duckett had the option to withdraw before the auction. it’s not like he was scoring tons or winning the Ashes in November.

I find the reaction from Indian fans whenever an English player pulls out of the IPL to focus on England/Domestic cricket quite funny because obviously Indian players, like let's say Shardul Thakur, would never do the same if the shoe was on the other foot

Let them focus on international cricket. Anyone who doesn't want to play IPL should not even come in the auction
BAN them completely. Please do that for all Aussies first!

@MShortleg IPL franchises should be cautious before picking English players. Their season schedule makes it so that they pull out of IPL most often. Even ECB nudges them to do it to prioritize national duties only.
