As per Abhishek Tripathi, BCCI is considering implementing stricter regulations around the presence of players’ girlfriends during the IPL, with discussions already underway internally. • BCCI is reportedly preparing to enforce stricter rules concerning what it terms “girlfriend culture” within teams. • The board aims to act cautiously to avoid any potential controversies or major missteps in the future. • It has been observed that some players are currently staying with their girlfriends in team hotels. • A BCCI official has confirmed that the matter will be formally discussed before any final decision is taken. • The board has clarified that wives and family members are not an issue, but concerns have specifically been raised about girlfriends. • If approved, these new regulations could be implemented from IPL 2027. • The BCCI believes that without clear guidelines, such situations could potentially lead to controversies in the future.
