Reinforcing the ongoing efforts against drug peddlers/smugglers, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth more than 3 crores belonging to drug peddlers under the provisions of section 68 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Srinagar Police has attached a three-storied residential house of a drug peddler namely Abdul Ahad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Banpora Batamaloo on land bearing Khewat No.137 and Khasra No.294 (Abadi Deh) at Banpora Batamaloo worth Rs 65 lakhs under section 68 of NDPS Act in case FIR No. 31 of 2024. The accused person is a notorious drug peddler who sold drugs among the youth upon which case FIR No.31/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a substantial amount of narcotics was recovered. In another case, a three-storied residential house situated at H. No. 18, Umer Lane Azad Basti, under Survey no. 1764 estimated at a value of Rs 2.5 crores, belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat father of Jan Manzoor Bhat resident of Natipora, was attached under section 68(F) of NDPS Act. The accused person namely Jan Manzoor Bhat is also a drug peddler who peddled narcotics among the youth of the area upon which case FIR No. 35/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Chanapora. Both the aforementioned properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. Consequently, these have been attached subject to confirmation from the competent authority and administrator, SAFEMA and NDPSA. In compliance to section 68 E and 68 F of NDPS Act, the immovable property acquired by the accused persons through illegal means seized or attached, shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise dealt with without the prior permission of the competent authority. This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of J&K Police in eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking.

Continuing the crackdown against drug trafficking, Police in Srinagar have booked 10 notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS Act). The notorious drug peddlers namely Rizwan Bashir Dhobi son of Bashir Ahmad Dhobi resident of Sakidafar Safakadal (at present Grid Colony Srinagar), Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat son of Noor Mohammad Bhat resident of Karnabal Takanwari Pora, Srinagar, Owais Hussain Mir son of Sajad Hussain Mir resident of Tangbagh, Nawpora, Srinagar, Nadeem Hussain Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Batwara, Srinagar, Sheikh Jibran Nisar son of Nisar Ahmad Sheikh resident of Batawara, Srinagar, Raqib Lateef Bhat @ Amir son of Mohammad Lateef Bhat resident of Bhat Mohalla, Aloochibagh, Srinagar, Abdul Ahad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Banpora, Batamaloo, Srinagar, Moin Khan alias Moin son of Ghulam Hassan Khan alias Mama resident of Tengpora Bypass, Srinagar, Sajad Ahmad Beigh alias Boya son of Late Abdul Hamid Beigh resident of Madeena Colony, Allochibagh Sector B and Arshid Ahmad Mir son of Nazir Ahmad Mir resident of Baghi Jogi Lanker, Rainawari have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining the formal detention orders from Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir on the basis of dossiers prepared by Srinagar police against them. Consequently, these drug peddlers were detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu and District Jails of Bhaderwah, Udhampur and Kathua. Pertinent to mention here that these drug peddlers have been involved in the peddling of narcotics among the youth of Srinagar on an alarming scale. Besides, they were also involved in several NDPS Act cases of various police stations of Srinagar. Despite several NDPS Act cases registered against them, they didn’t not mend their ways after getting bailed out from courts and were brazenly promoting drugs among the youth of the valley, especially in Srinagar, through their illegal narcotics network. Police has also set into motion the process to attach their properties under the provisions of PIT-NDPS Act. J&K Police affirms its steadfast commitment of eliminating drug peddling in the region with the full might of law. We also caution those engaged in this unlawful activity that the long arm of law would catch them sooner than anticipated and every offender will face justice.
