As a part of the public outreach programme of J&K Government, #SrinagarPolice observed Lok Darbar cum Awareness Programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas) across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the city. In the *1st phase for the month of March 2026, the event was organized in (11) Police Stations* of the district which include : PS Masiuma PS Nowgam PS Safakadal PS Batamaloo PS Soura PS Kothibagh PS Parimpora PS M.R.Gunj PS Shergarhi PS Zaidbal PS Kralkhud The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & jurisdictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc. During these Lok Darbar cum awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their grievances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues, floating population etc. some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded. #DistrictPoliceSrinagar utilizes Lok Darbar (Thana Diwas) as a platform to connect directly with the people that we serve. It is our duty to ensure that every citizen feels heared and that their grievances are addressed promptly. We are committed to building a safer and more secure environment for all. Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society. Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing the police-public relationship. By organising Lok Darbar cum awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), #SrinagarPolice reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances.

The content in question, prima facie, reflects dissemination of Distorted Narratives and unverified information capable of causing Public unrest and societal disharmony. Such deliberate attempts to spread misinformation pose a serious threat to peace, security, and overall stability. Accordingly, FIR No. 02/2026 and FIR No. 03/2026 have been registered under Sections 197(1)(d) and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Cyber Police Station, Srinagar. Investigation into both cases has been initiated and is underway. #SrinagarPolice reiterates its firm commitment to maintaining Public peace and law & order. Citizens are advised to verify information through official and credible sources before sharing content online and to refrain from circulating unverified material that may disturb communal harmony or Public order. Such malicious misinformation campaigns pose a grave threat to peace, security, and the integrity of the Nation. Acting firmly, #SrinagarPolice has registered FIR No. 01/2026 at #CyberPoliceStation under relevant legal provisions. Several Profiles have been identified, and concerned individuals have been summoned to the Cyber Cell. Investigation is actively underway, and strict legal action will follow against anyone found involved. Some Prominent Individuals are reportedly making attempts to provoke activities that may disturb peace and public order. All such actions are under close watch, and necessary measures are being taken. #SrinagarPolice issues a clear warning that spreading fake news, inflammatory content, or unverified information will invite stringent legal consequences. In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening tourism security through technological innovation, Jammu & Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University, successfully concluded a two-week workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing at District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar. The workshop was designed to enhance the professional capabilities of Police personnel in addressing tourism-related security challenges by integrating modern technological tools into day-to-day policing. Key focus areas included smart surveillance systems, data-driven policing strategies, digital response mechanisms, and technology-enabled tourist assistance. The valedictory session was presided over by DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey, IPS, in the presence of SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, and other senior officers. Addressing the participants, DIG CKR underscored the growing importance of technology-enabled Policing, particularly in a tourism-centric region like Jammu & Kashmir. He lauded the collaborative effort between Jammu & Kashmir Police and Rashtriya Raksha University, terming the workshop a progressive step towards building a tech-savvy, responsive, and citizen-friendly police force. During the ceremony, mementos were presented to the resource persons and faculty members from Rashtriya Raksha University as a mark of appreciation for their valuable contribution and institutional support. Certificates of participation were distributed among the Police personnel. The workshop covered a wide spectrum of subjects, including cyber awareness in tourism zones, advanced surveillance technologies, emergency response systems, digital documentation, tourist assistance mechanisms, and best practices in tourism policing. Experts from Rashtriya Raksha University conducted interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based exercises to provide hands-on training to the participating officers. This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police towards modernization and capacity building.
