Salesforce Community Group Leaders that do virtual events— do you use Bevy or your own thing? My personal zoom account can handle 100 people and I’m feeling too cheap to drop $50/mo to upgrade. But then again, I’m not hosting a conference and 100+ is unruly.

@mhumpolec @ch_sz_knapp Absolutely. I'm grateful for all the heavy lifting Salesforce does for us. Salesforce abstracts away so much of the small little details that make SQL so painful. For example not having a CHAR() data type, there's no need and would only confuse new Admins.

@fliack @ch_sz_knapp At least you will understand why Salesforce decided to handle the database the way they did?

I start to hate SQL less and less. It might be Stockholm syndrome.

@ch_sz_knapp Naively, I started to study for the Oracle SQL Cert. Oracle SQL has so many little quirks and exceptions... I've spent north of 200h already and no end in sight. Just wrapping my head around all the implicit conversions and their exceptions is killing me.

@fliack Why did you start hating it to begin with?

@msrivastav13 I think so as well Mohit; the few times SOQL is not enough are outweighed by the better accessibility for citizen developers. Seeing SQL in Data Cloud was one of the reasons I went back to studying SQL.

@fliack Thanks to Salesforce for making it way easier. I think the idea of simplifying it was a million dollar idea in itself. It’s fun to see SQL support as well in Data Cloud

I hate the little details, quirks, and exceptions of SQL so much. Studying for the Oracle SQL cert is my worst experience in a long time. Great Oracle SQL, you have multiple ways to enclose strings, great. I'm very impressed... NOT

@fliack Is SQL still the same as it was 20 yrs back ? Have they changed anything big. ? I hated doing joins in SQL until I discovered salesforce and SOQL 😎

Dense stuff. With Flow & Enhanced External Services (aka Callout in Flow) integration is easy because no code is involved. But it's never simple because standard patterns apply. developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-…

Salesforce makes so much sense learning Oracle SQL.
