No, Pope Leo XIV has not specifically condemned the Iranian regime for murdering tens of thousands of protesters in the January 2026 crackdown. On January 11, 2026, he addressed the Angelus, noting "ongoing tensions" in Iran (and Syria) that "continue to claim many lives" and called for "dialogue and peace... in pursuit of the common good." He expressed general concern over protests and lethal force but stopped short of naming or blaming the regime. His later statements (March 2026 onward) focused on the U.S.-Israel-Iran war, urging ceasefires and dialogue among all parties without referencing the earlier protester deaths.

2015. Chuck Schumer explains why he is not supporting Obama's Iran nuclear deal. Schumer detailed how the deal would not only fail to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions, it would in many ways advance Iran's nuclear program. It's worth noting that as soon as Trump announced in 2018 that he was withdrawing from the deal, Schumer switched his position and began claiming that Obama's deal had been a success.
